Not sure what exchange I'm actually on (in Wells Park Road), but both flats in our building (and my neighbour's) didn't have any dialling tone until the power came back on at 2120 (and yes, I thought the power supplies were separate!). (The thing with my mobile is that you cannot dial 0800 or 0845 n...

Sorry if I appear to be peeing on the bonfire, but why the green dragon? It might well have the claim to being the oldest symbol associated with Sydenham, but surely the gateway to Sydenham (as we know it today) is better represented by a greyhound? I've lived here, on and off, for 35 years or so, ...

Yes, that timeline/scenario is my understanding from talking to various people living in Forest Hill and Crystal Palace/Syd. What really frustrated me though (apart from the subsequent non-reporting in the news!) was that when my power went off at 7.45am, it also took down my BT line and my mobile c...

Yeah, I was running late today so didn't want to risk being shut out of the side gate so walked around to the main entrance - another 5 minutes on my journey time from Wells Park Rd (that's double the usual time! I'm thinking it may be worth going to Forest Hill station instead!). The barriers were ...

Yep, great idea Lee. I think the choice of the Green Dragon is excellent too as this symbol has an easily associated characterisation (and so better than just a 'Sydenham' font, an image of a well or the Crystal Palace etc). It looks from the description above that the original Dragon was a wind-van...

The staff there had the intercom button casing open today, wires trailing out everywhere - final tweaks before it goes live? Still no sign of a CCTV camera though...

So who is going to test the side-entry tomorrow?

This Weds...

There have been announcements on Platform 1 that the gate will be closed from this Wednesday . The poster hasn't been updated as far as I could see. It looks like an intercom button is in place but I couldn't see a new CCTV camera looking at the gate? I'm not at all comfortable with this new arrange...

BT lines down...(& my story - didn't mean it to be so lo

Hi Firstly - what a godsend this forum turned out to be yesterday! My electricity went off at 7.45am when the alarm clock/radio frizzed for a second (I went back to sleep hoping that it would be restored soon or that I just needed to change a fuse!). Come 10.30 and still no leccy, went to call the E...

Hi, I only moved to Sydenham recently and never had the chance to try out the Greyhound. However, I was pretty shocked when those horrendous hoardings went up as the pub (patio at least) had always seemed very busy whenever I walked past. So, was the pub doing badly and not financially able to remai...
