Re: Primary School agonies, advice needed
Look at the schools which are nearest to you and within your borough, visit them, read the Ofsteds, go to their school fetes, make your choice. The demand for school places is increasing, so just be sensible when you complete your choice of 6. With Eliot Bank's 2 bulge classes in the 2012 intake, a ...

Re: Cornerstone preschool?
I would recommend Sydenham Pre School; https://www.pre-school.org.uk/contact-us/d211/sydenham-pre-school My kids went there recently and Jenni, Angie and Caroline are fab; they know what they are doing and children are stimulated and safe. The actual premises is a bit tired. It probably reopens this...

Are you on a road near St Bart's school? Not that the school is linked with this.

Re: Activities in school hols for kids?
I have just found this link; http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/inmyarea/events/diary/children-and-young-people/Pages/default.aspx But also, the new Youth Club on Welss Park Road; that's for 8 years plus isn't it? They surely would have stuff on. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/mobile...

Bag found on bridge by train line, Last week
We found a bag on the bridge over the train tracks last week, and I have been meaning to take it to the police station but haven't got round to it yet. It is a canvas, dark green-ish bag with a long strap. There are some items in it, so if it is your, please contact me. I will get it to the police s...

Re: Primary School agonies, advice needed
A big thumbs up for St Bart's too - my reception class daughter loves it, has settled well, has a great teacher, TA and Nursery Nurse and the school feels warm and welcoming. The kids who attend Eliot Bank on your road well may be in the bulge class intake (I know one of the family's). The school I ...

Re: After school care - any recommendations?
Welcome to st barts! Our daughter is in reception and loves it! The lady who collects some of the children from the school, including at least 3 reception children is Shirley, although I don't know her surname. Maybe the office could help as Shirley has looked after children from the school for year...

Hello
Try Teddy Bear Toddlers at Holy Trinity Church, Sydenham Park, Fridays. Runs term times, 10-12 and is packed out every week with babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their parents - a really nice group and well worth visiting to meet a friendly bunch.
Good luck!

Re: Marital Arts for 5 year olds
There's a guy who runs Karate at St Bart's School - can't remember his name, but is spoken of highly, so I've pulled his number of the school website; 07939 958 916
He runs this for KS1 and 2 so assume he does local clubs.

Free - Cavity wall and loft insulation
We have just had cavity wall insulation for free - the offer ends at the end of November;
http://savingenergyuk.co.uk/
I'm not a rep for this company, but the insulation seems to have made a difference already.
Here's to smaller heating bills...!

Free cot and mattress
Our youngest is getting a bed so we have a lovely cot and mattress to give away. I think the cot was John Lewis and the mattress definitely is from here. It was a pine colour and we painted it matt white, not v well, so you may want to touch this up. Let me know ASAP if you are interested. In good c...

Re: List of drop-in playgroups in the area
I didn't realise Eliot Bank and Kelvin Grove had taken on the responsibility - I thought sessions had just stopped. I have been trying to find out what's on for pre-schoolers, so this is great.
I wonder, do local families really know about the sessions at the centres?
