Re: Open Mic Night Sydenham
Hi @Jonson47, that sounds awesome! I'm not a musician so can't sign up, but I've lived here for 5 years and noticed lots of people with instruments catching the train into town and have always thought that there's a missed opportunity to bring together and showcase (and listen to) local talent on a ...

Re: Sydenham improvement works
I'm with you @Steveofsyd. I live on the High Street and have watched Riney's building works get tantalisingly close to complete, only to see Skanska digging bits up again...and again. Lots of the new street lights still don't work, and it looks like they've messed up somewhere along the line. No ide...

Re: Harbour 321 Restaurant NOW OPEN
We went for a 'sit down' meal at the Harbour tonight, and would definitely recommend it. Service was good, and the food was fresh and tasty. Plus they were playing tunes that you can croon along to

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
It's so frustrating isn't it! Good work Mr_Sheen. Am wondering if trying a daily phone call might be more effective, as it's easy to ignore an email but not so easy to ignore a call? Does anyone know what the Sydenham Society's perspective on this is, and if they're taking any action to try and move...

Re: Jill hub / Cherry & Ice
Very excited to discover that we've got a new ice-cream/waffle/late night opening café on the high street! Some menus on the tables/in the window and some brighter lighting (so that you can see inside when you're passing) would help to make it even more appealing! Looking forward to visiting...

Re: Market Research - Cinema
Would DEFINITELY go to a reasonably-priced cinema in Sydenham on a regular basis - big gap in the market there!

I second that too. We've been in a few times, and have yet to emerge empty handed.... Lovely stuff, and nice fabrics. Would definitely recommend a look!

Re: Religious Rappers on the High Street
Loving your work @mikecg :) I don't have an issue with people practising religion and respect people's right to observe whichever faith they choose (or none), but since I live on the high street, I do have an issue with people playing loud music for hours at a time, lecturing me on how I need to lov...

Religious Rappers on the High Street
Any-one else finding the regular doses of loud Christian advertising/music on the High Street REALLY ANNOYING? Am sure people are supposed to have a license to play music that loud in public...

Sydenham Mews
Hi multisync, I agree that something needs to be done. A group of us have plugging away at this for the past year or so (although several others before us were also actively involved on this issue), and started a Campaign called 'Live In It' to address some of the problems associated with the Mews w...
Broadband
Yeah, we seem to be back in business too. Also given a new BT homehub and the internet hasn't crashed at all today. Thanks to all who lobbied various internet providers - particularly Eagle. Good to know that others are online too, and glad we got there in the end!
Broadband
Hi 'The Eagle',
Just wandering if the engineer managed to sort out your broadband problems in the end? Our connection is still dropping out and we've tried a combination of daily calls/emails to BT (when we have connection!) to no avail...

Anyone know what happened outside 'The Two Halfs' on Thu?
Just wandering if anyone knows what happened outside 'The Two Halfs' on Thu 1st April? I was walking up Sydenham Road towards the station at around 5.15pm and saw two police cars double-parked at crazy angles outside the pub and a crowd had gathered nearby. I then noticed someone lying on the floor ...
Broadband problems
This sounds very familiar. We live on Sydenham Road and have BT Broadband which has started dropping regularly since Thu 25th March, although it appears 'connected'. We've been ringing BT on an almost daily basis who haven't been able to resolve the problem, and when pushed finally provided a 'statu...

Hi AliB,
I'm in need of a steam cleaner/cheap professional carpet cleaner too. Any tips on where you found one in the end?
Thanks

105 Sydenham Road - possible change of use
I've just discovered that there's an appeal against a planning decision to stop 'East Meets West' (105 Sydenham Road, SE26 5EZ - opposite Sommerfield) from being turned into yet another takeaway/cafe. If you want to safeguard our High Street shops then please write to Ruth Howell, Room 3-14, Eagle W...
