Re: The Greyhound. Does it still exist?

Again I ask where is C. Best? Is the council not aware of this? It is completely laughable the developers seem to be getting away with destroying a vital part of our high st!

Re: The Greyhound. Does it still exist?

It seems as if it is becoming a very open fact that this building is being systematically dismantled, along with the hope of a pub being reinstated there, right before our eyes. I wonder where C. Best and her posse are?

Re: stabbing on Princethorpe

Yes, I'd ring. One of them, the victim or the attackers, was carrying a portion of chips that was thrown onto the middle of the road just were the incident happened. There were a lot of pictures being taking of the bag of chips. I'm guessing if you heard this near a chip shop you should call!

stabbing on Princethorpe

About 4:15 this afternoon several police cars and an ambulance appeared on Princethorpe Road and blocked off an area. I walked over to see what was going on when I saw someone being taken into the ambulance. I was told that a teenager was chased, by a group of youths, up Princethorpe and stabbed rep...

Re: Mugging on bishopsthorpe road

Bensonby,
Surely the police could be slightly more present on what now must be a known crisis point. There have been several muggings there so wouldn't occasionally placing a few plain clothes police be the thing to be done? Or is this just becoming a No Go area in our neighbourhood?

Re: Mugging on bishopsthorpe road

This sounds like the third or forth mugging fitting the same pattern - targeted leaving the station and attacked on the dark corner of Bishopsthorpe and Silverdale. So sorry to hear this has happened to you and I hope that SOMETHING will be done. The guy who lives across from me had it happen on Bis...

Re: Knife crime in Sydenham

I just heard that someone was robbed at knifepoint on Bishopsthorpe. I have very little information other than it was Tuesday night and around 11:30. After they took whatever they were looking for, they stabbed this person. Apparently the victim is ok. Do things seem to be getting worse around here?

Re: Vicious Dog Attack Sydenham Road

I was bitten by a Pit-bull on Sydenham Road last year. It broke my skin and bled quite badly. The owners were a young couple with two Pit-bulls. As I walked past the dog lunged and bit me. The woman couldn’t be bothered with what happened but the guy was somewhat apologetic. They simply began to wal...

Re: Garden fence repairer?

Hi,
I used Mike, a local guy who I know very well. He's really fantastic. He's did my back fence and front gate and front doors. He's also done work for my neighbour. I really recommend him highly.

Re: Kirkdale Village – Street Beautification Project

I'd volunteer and donate everything needed if they would stop using that ****ing stupid 'rebranded' name. The term 'Kirkdale Village' is ludicrous and is a pasted on afterthought just as that ridiculous mosaic that doesn't seem to have much approval by the people in the area but, strangely, keeps ge...

Re: Flower beds in Mayo Park?

I actually think this IS OUR space to moan. Is this not a community forum about community issues? The changes that have gone on in Mayow park for the past few years claim to have all been done in the name of the 'Community.' However, I know of many people who have said they don't feel any sense of w...

Re: Road *!@!! works!

Today I was driving on the high street and turned onto Queensthorpe. Am I correct in seeing that road workers were spray painting the street in front of Natwest in preparation to dig it up yet again?
Anyone see this?

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers

It took a while but I finally got to try it out today. I went in for one tuna but the guy got me to try swordfish. He gave me a quick recipe and was really helpful. The worrying thing was he said they've been 'steady but not busy.' We can't let this place fail! Great addition to the High Street! :D

It's such a shame and a bit of a mess. That place was really great when it was Turkish. After he changed it to a tex-mex place it all seemed a bit odd. If the guy reads this I really think he should consider changing back to his original 'theme'. The Turkish menu was far superior to the tex-mex and ...

I often work in St John's Wood. I got on the 7:04 this morning and got out at SJW station at 7:40! That is amazing! The homeward journey yesterday to almost an hour but both Jubilee and Overland seemed to be running slowly. Today it seems to have cost me £2.40 - is that possible? I touched the pink ...

THis morning I tried to top up my oyster - for the first time at the station. None of the machines would read the card and the guy in the office said that he couldn't. I had £4 on it and needed to go to St. John's Wood. I asked if I could top it up on the other side and was told I'd be fined and tha...

We loved our day out on the new Overground! It really makes a mental difference to have it here now. We feel so plugged in and connected with the rest of the city. We rode it till the end, got out at Dalston Junction walked around a bit - didn't find much to see so we jumped back on. We got off at S...
