Re: sticky:Mural?

Before I forget and drivel on - the artist of that draft submission works round the corner and has visited the wall in person so should have anhalf decent idea of what his idea would look like in reality! There appears a slight cyclical discussion on some of these points which have been brought up ...

Re: Sydenham Society

I have read numerous threads on the Forum and done common threads that keep coming up that people want to understand the Society’s decision making process, have a say, want more transparency and want to ensure that they are representational. I’ve given it some thoughts myself and I would like to sug...

Re: sticky:Mural?

The sneaky preview would look fabulous on the trackside wall where the graffiti was covered up. I know it has been relegated due to access issues, but how about timing it to coincide with track closures? For instance, the Christmas / New year shutdown? I can't see it working on the panelled wall; c...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

I am not quite sure why this doesn’t appear to be a sticky anymore. Any reason admin? Anyhow the latest from Nandos is that they plan to be on site in early Summer! Does 'on-site in early summer' mean begining building works/fitting out the building or does it mean they plan to open then? I appreci...

Re: New Builds on Sydenham High Street

Anyone know what is happening to Connaught Leisure and the empty shot next to Trattoria Raffaele? The former has had bricks outside of it for months and the latter has some sort of equipment in it but nothing happening. I understand that it is owned by a housing association and that they are conver...

GOOD NEWS! I emailed moreyoga just on the offchance they received a bog standard rejection letter rather than the explanation as offered by the council on twitter/other. They responded very positively appearing to cite there were errors on both sides during the application and steps are already in ...

Great to see Bottlecave opening today. They are selling a range of craft beers and organic wine and consequently I have filled a big bag tonight! Good luck to them!

Thanks for the post Topofthehill. Now that is good news!

Facebook page "The greyhound Sydenham" gives more information about what we can expect and a useful link to their website, the latter of which is in development.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Is there a tentative date yet? How can a business not have a target date for opening? I presume they must have a business plan which acccounts for such things as costs over time in a vacant site as well as contracts with suppliers and opening in the right trading period to maximise income in the fi...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

Great for Crystal Palace town to see Everyman cinema has decided to invest there. I am a little suprised with their decision with east dulwich picture house so near. Also of course it's disappointing for Sydenham as a town, for this would have been a major attractor, but as a resident it will be goo...

It turns out the papers for this were lodged in November, and can be seen here: http://planning.lewisham.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=_LEWIS_DCAPR_92473 A few changes: Overall the development will be smaller by one x one-bedroom flat (a total of 29...

Re: Some sort of bar/beer shop

Spoken to the owner of Bottlecave today. They are currently fitting out the premises and plan to open in the next few weeks. They are planning to offer the same sort of wines and craft beers that they provide in their shop in Lordship Lane. Good news for Sydenham and hopefully healthy competition fo...

A baffling decision. Lewisham Council has rejected a proposal to build five, two-bedroom flats above and around the Alfred Pub. The plan proposed a three-story side-infill and a mansard roof. Great to see an organisation like this trying to invest in Sydenham. Let's hope that it doesn't fall victim to the usual well intended obstruction... Yes - perhaps if everyone in favour, even if they might not use it themselves, left a comment on the planning application website that might smooth t...

Hi,

Nandos informed me before Christmas that they are currently in the process of submitting information to discharge their planning conditions. The landlord also needs to undertake some work to the premises which they said should be early in the New Year.

Re: STILL NO SYDENHAM CHRISTMAS TREE OR LIGHTS?!

On the positive I see the Christmas lights have been switched on tonight. On the negative how can they get them so wrong? Many of the columns do not have lights at all, bulbs on some columns are not working at all and the remainder look quite frankly odd. Why can't the contractors seemly not simply ...
