Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Well Acorn is open - if you call that progress. Stuart It's such a waste of a nice space, as far as we all don't want chain coffee shops in Sydenham (because we're allowed to be as picky as we like) a Starbucks with their modern black signage would've looked really smart in that location. I would p...

Re: 7 Kent House Road

Hi, Does anyone have any information on the landlords of 3-5-7 Kent House Road? I have Investors ready to take it off their hands. Can someone please PM me if you have any information on the landlords. Thanks Solomon. Investors? Certainly not meaning to be rude but that term just seems so squalid a...

Calabash of Culture

Following in the recent steps of Trattoria Raffaele, I noticed that Calabash of Culture has popped into the Top 10 restaurants in London on TripAdvisor. This follows a number of recent positive reviews for the restaurant. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d7316621-Reviews-The_C...

Re: Armed robbery at Costcutters, Kirkdale - footage release

Is this 'armed' with a knife or was there a gun involved? I looked at the image and only saw a knife. The headline says 'armed' - I always thought this meant a gun - or have things moved on for this to include all weapons i.e. "armed" with a threatening note. Frightening and not good all ...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

If true this is bad news for immediate residents. Has anyone thought about the resulting parking issues this will generate? It's bad enough with commuters, Pure Gym users and Sainsburys Local shoppers vying for spaces not to mention long suffering residents who merely want to park in the road they ...

Re: Tennis courts in Mayow Park

How do these prices compare to other facilities in the area? I imagine it stacks up pretty well. Personally, I think that paying a nominal amount to use a facility that has been updated and (hopefully) well maintained, is a small price to pay compared to not having a facility in the first place. The...

Re: Budgens

I imagine Sydenham should be a net beneficiary of business rate rises, given the lower rents relative to surrounding areas.

Re: Budgens

Not sure why Waitrose wouldn't touch Sydenham; the rent is cheaper and they would get good custom in the area. There is a Little Waitrose in Sidcup, and that's not exactly a "Waitrose" typical area. Besides, it's a 10min drive to Waitrose as it stands, or they deliver. No loss if they are ...

Re: Commuting from Sydenham to London Bridge

The great thing about Sydenham is you do have good options. Under normal circumstances, the trains to LB are fine. They are less busy than tubes, and it takes 17 minutes. At the moment, Southern are not helping the situation, and all services into LB will be impacted until 2018 when construction wor...

Nanny wanted

Hi there, I have a 2 year old daughter who attends a local nursery in Sydenham. My wife and I are getting increasingly busy with work commitments, so are looking for some help with afternoon pick-up + early evenings. If you are also available to cook and clean during the day on occasions, that would...

Re: Sydenham vs Forest Hill

All such helpful information. Venner Road hasn't been mentioned but there seems to be a fair amount of properties that come out on that road over time. But given it's right by the train track and the housing stock types being quite a mix, any thoughts on how that road feels after dark would be grea...

Re: Sydenham vs Forest Hill

My wife has lived on and off in Sydenham since 2007, and we have both lived here since 2014.

We have never had any issues walking home at night; from Penge East, Lower Sydenham or Sydenham stations.

I have never seen any odd characters hanging around any of these stations at night either.
