Lewisham do a free collection service of three items at a time, but sofas count as three items. There is nothing to stop you boooking a collection for three items, then another three when they have been collected and so on ad infinitum.

As the owner of three dogs that are walked locally I am also suprised by the number of owners who dont clean after their dogs. We always do and I know a number of other owners locally who do the same, The trouble is there are a large number of owners in Sydenham who don't and they give us all bad na...

Well Nicholas I would not be surprised if either the Kirkdale Bookshop or the Crow up at the Palace had a copy or were able to order it for you. Can see why you dont want pictures of the 1911 final, but your lot won about 7 FA Cups before then didn't you? Seem to remember you lost in the 1912 final ...

A copy of the book photo of the 1911 cup final sits on the wall behind my computor because I am a proud Bradford City supporter and the 1911 FA Cup victory, after a replay at Old Trafford, remains our sole major trophy. Attendance was 69,000. FA Cup finals were played at the Palace between 1896 and ...

Anyone remember catford dog track?

This post is unconnected to any other thread, or any current local issues. When the track closed in 2005 it was bought by developers for residential. The Twentieth Century Society applied to have the Tote Board listed as it was a fine example of early 20th century electro mechnaical engineering and ...

Funny you should mention it: I live and work here The eyes thing certainly, have to wear sunglasses these days even when it isn't particularly sunny. The itchy nose irriates my wife, seems to mainly occur when I eat. The mild confusion and severe fatigue I have put down to advancing years and lifest...

I would like someone who knows about the procedures etc to explain exactly what our options are now, beyond just a petition etc. Can the council do anything to at least postpone demolition?
I also think it would be a good idea to contact Millford group and let them know how strongly people feel.

We've used Amphlett Lissimore in the past, reasonable rates and professional service. They used to have an office in the high street but are now located in Upper Norwood.

Thing is Dutch Cow, it may not be a great gateway visually but I doubt a block of flats will be either. yes there is the Railway, but it has no garden or outdoor area, while the former carpet shop that is the Two Halfs is a hellish venue IMO. Yes the Man of Kent has gone to residential with a bit of...

I'm with Muddy Waters on this; a pub is a community asset and just because I dont use it doesn't mean I wont regret it closing. It always seems reasonably busy so Im sure it is economically viable. Sure there is a housing shortage in the borough, but Im sure there are plenty of other places they cou...

I think it is a shame that a pub which has been here for nearly three hundred years should go because of recent poor managment and the escalation in property values. We've already lost a couple of pubs in Sydenham and seeing as the Greyhound is the oldest and occupies sucha landmark site you would t...

We got ours last week and I got a leaflet explaining (I've had to tell a load of neighbours as they all threw out their leaflets as junk mail!). Its a trial for about six weeks to see what the take up is. They pick up on your usual collection day. You can put in any loose garden waste but not tree t...
