Re: New cafe

[quote="clembot"]I'm all for new business' making a mark, but what's with the new cafe top end of the high street? Hardly progress, who signs the plans off?[/quo Previously Sema's, it's always been a café and they had their regulars and I don't see any problem with this. Rather a clean and...

Begging around Sainsburys Local

Thought I had better bring it to everyone's attention on this forum that there is a woman who hangs around Sainsburys Local on the corner of Spring Hill by the roundabout, crying - appearing distraught and asking for money. I have witnessed this on several occasions now. I have seen unsuspecting and...

Re: Railway Problems - Lines Closed

With a nod to the inconvenience suffered by commuters to London using this line, I must say that a welcome side effect of the sink hole is that I can actually park in the road I live in for once. I can go out in my car during the day, come back and there are still places to park in my road. Heaven f...

Re: Parking problems

Yep - already lodged a request with LBL for a CPZ in Sydenham. However, the wheels of local government grind incredibly slow(ly) - especially if it's LBL. However, I cant fault them for clearing fly tipping when I report it on the Love Lewisham site. Has anyone noticed how bad that is getting these ...

Re: Parking problems

Eagle I agree. Certainly we need a CPZ on residential roads around stations up to London but I'm not sure LB Lewisham is listening to us as residents. I have put my case for review to Lewisham as advised on STF earlier but I think it has fallen on 'deaf ears' or LB Lewisham are deliberately 'cocking...

Re: Parking problems

Apologies if I appear to be getting on my soap box again about this and with a nod towards those few who think that drivers have a right to park anywhere legally on the road. However for the last week, perhaps longer, there have been two cars parked and not moved (a people carrier and another saloon...

Re: Parking problems

At the risk of repeating myself from previous posts, permit holders only would be able to park within the permitted time – say for instance 12.00 – 2.00pm. If this was adopted in roads around stations – Peak Hill Gardens, Venner Road, Homecroft Rd, Silverdale, to name a few, it would cut the commute...

Re: Parking problems

If one-hour restrictions were placed on a residential road, it baffles me as to how a ticket warden could identify legitimate parkers and/or guest visitors, or conversely a blanket ban would mean that residents had to shuffle their cars onto surrounding roads for the duration of the ban. Not exactl...

Re: Bob Wines

If Bob's Wines could get me a bottle of Billet Carte Salmon champagne for under £50 (special occasions only you understand) I'd be their friend forever. Difficult to get it for our anniversary without trotting up to Harrods or ordering on line.

Re: Parking problems

Mike I agree partly although if a CPZ , for example , brought in the Lewisham side this will deter many selfish parkers as there would be limited spaces on Ponge side. I spent my first 20 odd years in Venner Road when hardly a car was parked. Much nicer road than now. Ponge? Typographical error or ...

Re: Parking problems

Good. I hope there is a Sydenham wide CPZ which operates between 12 midday and 2.00pm. This is what most of the streets in Bromley have got and at a stroke it will stop all the commuter chancers lining up for a space (particularly evident on the road I live in which leads to the upline entrance to S...

I don't think so Pally - but even if they do they need to be disconnected. Here's hoping for a better display next year!

Re: Christmas lights in Sydenham?

Please turn off those awful Christmas lights now - I see they are still turned on and they weren't the greatest even in the Season of Goodwill but now they are just downright depressing.

Re: Golden Lion pub

Had a coffee in the Golden Lion this morning with an old friend and I have to say it was lovely. Warm, spacious with comfy seats and great coffee and croissants. They have a good breakfast menu as well and I will definitely be popping in again - I hope they keep it up.

Yes Pally I take it all back - must have been feeling a tad grumpy when I posted. I went on line on Sunday night and low and behold there were a lot more appointments and I managed to book one for Tuesday! Amazing and much happier now.

Re: Bollards

Yes I agree Nigel – pavement parking most inconsiderate and annoying. Almost as annoying as pedestrians walking the length of Peak Hill Gardens, in the middle of the road coming from and going to the station. They obviously don’t realise that the pavement is for pedestrians and the road is for cars.
