Today i took a stroll to the back of my flat, to see a rat in the back yard of the derelict property that has not been worked on at all since my last post. It was very big ,very health looking. It was mid afternoon, daylight. I ddin't hang around to meet his mates. Will again contact the environment...

Hi Lizzie, I had this problem last year. I got pest control to come around and they put poison down, horrible smell after though and the mice came back (I live near a building site/derelict building). I tried the sonic plug in thing but that didn't deter them although I don't think as many came back...

bus rescue!

A little earlier this evening their seemed to be more stranded buses on dartmouth road/ kirkdale, than at camberwell bus garage. One bus on the roundabout was stuck in the ice and had slid into the barriers, it continued to slide, precariously. But thanks to a passing gritter lorry who's co-driver g...

Agreed fewer cars the better. But it's naive to think that Having flats without parking spaces deters people from Driving or owning cars. They'll use the street parking, so congesting the streets even more. Equally providing cycle spaces wouldn't particuarly encourage people to cycle. ""Al...

I Share your concerns about the planning dept Fishcox. I'm not bothered that modern buildings are replacing old ones, it's about the quality, size and amenities that this property and some of the recent additions in the area provide and the impression these give the area. Some of the newer buildings...

Kirkdale/Dartmouth Road New builds

There is yet another planning application in, for yet another block of boxes (one and two bedrooms) on Kirkdale. 109-111, which at present is Raj's old news agents and the estate agents, they've applied for a block of several flats and a retail outlet. No Parking spaces, only bikes. I'm concerned at...

I'm a member of a large union however my job is viewed by some within and outside the profession as a 'vocation', it isn't in my opinion. But this view has meant that strike action has never, in my working life been pursued. This frustrates me as i think we have had a raw deal in the past few years....

Thanks for the offer of the camera, i've pm'd you! Thanks Parker for your support, it is horrible living next to rats. Thank you all for your advice. Quick update, the environmental health officer called around last week. He had a look in the back yard but not the empty property. He said he will write to the owner asking that they deal with the rat problem. He said it would be hard to force them to act on the letter...

I've taken the 185 from Forest Hill, however the journey back was a nightmare. I'm unsure if this was because of the time of day or because there had been an accident or something.
