Re: Proposed Constituency Boundaries
My biggest problem with these proposals is the fact SE26 will actually be split between 5 constituencies. Bell Green will be part of Lewisham & Catford, Sydenham Avenue/CP Park Road will be Croydon North, Cator/Wiverton/Venner Roads will be Beckenham, the Southwark side of Sydenham Hill will be ...

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation
That idea was scrapped earlier this year I believe for this new timetable proposal. Even so, it wasn't clear whether that would have been fast between London Bridge and Norwood Junction or be a stopping service.oluwababe wrote:what happened to that peak hour Caterham to Finsbury Park service via Sydenham?

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation
No East Croydon to Sydenham at all. Its planned that along with the current Southern Horsham service, Thameslink trains will call at Norwood Jun every half hour to Gatwick. However, these services will be using the slow lines, meaning it would be faster to change at Norwood, then at East Croydon, to...

Southern Timetable Consultation
Hi all, its been a long time since I've posted, however thought this is too important to ignore. Govia Thameslink Railway (Southern, Thameslink etc) have just published their timetable plans for the entire network, and it doesn't seem particularly good for us in Sydenham. For the "Sydenham rout...

Re: fatal stabbing in Wells Park Road.
Firstly it is the job of the police to make sure people aren't killed in the street. As someone who is young, it does worry me, I could even know this person. I never feel unsafe in Sydenham but the lack of visible Police outside major railway stations and Westfield shopping centres is an issue acro...

We can all see the mural now - the scaffolding has just been taken down! Clearly they have no intent to do anything else soon.

Govia wins the new TSGN rail franchise (ie Southern again)
If you where hoping for Southern to be gone soon, you're out of luck, their parent company Govia has won. TSGN stands for Thameslink, Southern & Great Northern and really they're concentrating most improvements on Thameslink routes. There will be new Gatwick Express trains but I can't really see...
Re: Southern
Indeed if a train does ''fast running'' its still counted as cancelled and affects punctuality figures. They fast run to make up time. The winner of the franchise will be announced next month, merging First Capital Connect and Southern (as well as a few Southeastern routes) into one franchise starti...

Re: Case Study: Sydenham High St vs New Malden High St
Kingston has a BID group which is really good (one of the first in the country) and the council is quite hot on town centres. New Malden has a town centre strategy (although I"m not a fan of the place it look alike most other town centres). East Dulwich had a strong traders association which m...

Case Study: Sydenham High St vs New Malden High St
I love Sydenham but I also really like places in South West London like Teddington, Kingston, Surbiton and indeed New and Old Malden. The difference between their high streets and ours really makes you think. Yes Kingston-upon-Thames is a major area, but look at New Malden. A smaller suburb, very cl...

Re: Southern Trains Franchise
July 2015 is the end of the current Southern franchise. Its to be merged with Thameslink Great Northern (currently run by First Capital Connect) from that date. However the Thameslink franchise will end in September 2014. Depending on the winner of that franchise: either First (which I doubt will wi...

Re: NO SYDENHAM TRAINS SUNDAY
Who is it who are not providing the service, though? TfL? London Overground? Southern? Or Network Rail? I think all the rail companies will say it's down to Network Rail. And Network Rail will say they are not responsible for issuing travel cards. I have been emailing London Overground asking that ...

Re: Legible London Signage
I assumed we were getting them too. Hopefully sometime soon we will get them. I agree they don't look like clutter, they're designed to do the opposite, removing all the signage that is old/isn't used. I'm often being asked where Sydenham station is too, which I think is caused by the bus stops, wit...

Legible London Signage
I like walking around Sydenham and I think anything to encourage walking is a good thing. On the TfL website, I've come across the scheme which has seen those new blue signs with maps on introduced in some places. They're already in Central London, Croydon, Lewisham/Ladywell, Richmond/Twickenham ect...

Re: Sydenham improvement works
Does anyone know if the highstreet development is going all the way down to Bell Green. It looks like the pavement is being replaced as far as The Alfred but wasn't sure if it was going any further. Lewisham Council say on their website, that they're looking for more funding to improve the road fro...

Re: CRYSTAL PALACE PLANS TO BE UNVEILED
I think the real opportunity if the capacity of existing railways is not good judged to be good enough, would be to get a large contribution to the cost of a Bakerloo line extension underground linking Elephant and Castle to Peckham, Horniman, Upper Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Penge, and Beckenham. I...

Re: CRYSTAL PALACE PLANS TO BE UNVEILED
I've always wanted the palace to be rebuilt again and I think it would be wonderful for Palace, Sydenham, Penge & Norwood. This part of London doesn't have any major attractions and I think its a shame. As for traffic I think most people would get the train just like they do for other attraction...

Re: Cashless-only buses - TfL consultation
If TfL go ahead with this then there should be more opportunities to top up your oyster card. Not enough shops top up oyster while half of the time there is a notice in the shop window saying "oyster machine doesn't work". Then think about Night Buses. No shops and hardly any stations are ...

Re: Sports Direct is next in line to arrive in Sydenham
Interestingly top of the wish list for some of the youngsters at the last sydenham assembly was a sports gear shop. Something we don't currently have. I don't know about the ethic of Sports Direct as a company or employer, but I think we really need an affordable sports store for local young people...
