Sydenham DJ is glad he rocked the boat aboard Radio Caroline
A nice article about a guy you must have seen many times in Sydenham Road (or even heard on Sydenham Radio): http://www.bromleytimes.co.uk/news/sydenham_dj_... Can you recognise him from this old photo? http://www.bromleytimes.co.uk/polopoly_fs/steve_in_the_1960s_1_1788135!image/2470118272.jpg_gen/d...

New Visa Debit Card Fraud Call Scam
Well new to me - though it looks like a copy of an US scam: http://www.guidestar.org/rxa/news/articles/2006/new-credit-debit-card-scam.aspx "Is this Mr xxxxxx" "Who is calling? " (being careful not to admit anything to number witheld calls) "Hello I am from the Visa Debit Ca...

Snow Dog Sydenham
Did anyone watch C4's The Snowman and the Snowdog last night? Was I imagining things or did the action in the Park (CP Park?) have them flying up by two TV masts and then following the track used by Sydenham's trains into London Bridge with the Shard standing behind? An illustrator with local knowle...
Re: Cyclists
This BBC iPlayer programme may expire soon. IMHO a very fair (to all sides) if not too well titled. Well worth watching: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... ins_Roads/

Re: Boundary Commission constituency revision for Sydenham
Surely Sydenham more in common with Penge than Grove Park? For us - yes. For an MP - no. Remember much of a bank bencher's work is as a glorified social worker. In particular dealing with dissatisfaction with the work of various public institutions. Much of their demographics follows the borough bo...

But they will never 'av the class of Sydenhamites. Why Mike Abrahams and his Forest Hill Libby mates were so jealous they got their CleggyBoots to torpedo the proposed 'Sydenham & Dulwich' constituency on some weak pretext of House of Lords reform or whatever. And Eagle - we are Dulwich Borders,...

And get their windows smashed in!
This is strictly Dulwich Borders and suggesting mixing it with some Forest Hillbillies could seriously damage your front door. Geddit?

Re: Penge Homebase parking scam
Well I would just take copies of the two receipts (to prove you are a genuine customer) plus the parking claim and merely ask the manager to sort it (politely). If he/she demurs just point out that you would not feel comfortable shopping there again. If he/she demurs again just suggest if you hear a...

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
AFAIR when buses inadvertantly used Lawrie Park Avenue some years ago they caused serious road subsidence. TfL assure me this diversion has been approved by Lewisham Council. I hope they did a proper fix last time. The subsidence in LPA appears to be re-occurring. Its quite dangerous if you are on ...

A very interesting development on the back of yesterday's story: Rees is now also calling for a judicial inquiry; to clear his name. He is blaming the original police investigation, which was led by Sid Fillery. ... who he later appointed as his fellow co-director of Southern Investigations? You co...

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
The northern end of Lawrie Park Road is now closed for an estimated two weeks. Traffic, including 176 &197 buses are being diverted via Lawrie Park Gardens & Lawrie Park Avenue rather than the usual diversion of straight up Crystal Palace Park Road. This is so they can serve the Hospice. AFA...

Re: Old Floor Zone shop let
Well we seem to have established there is a need for a responsive quality flooring shop in Sydenham  Weird that four of us shared the same experience. That must be a pretty high percentage (100%?) of those reading this who tried to buy. I'm going with Mary unless it was a vanity project. Stuart

Our dairy pressured us into taking milk in plastic bags. Which is a shame as milk bottles are so much more convenient. But then if some idiots are going to nick and chuck empty bottles left for collection I can understand it.

Scam: Local Artist Targetted
Just received this apparently from a well known local artist: Hi, I made a trip to Madrid, Spain and had my bag stolen from me with cash and credit cards in it. I am in contact with my bank but they are not providing a quick solution. Luckily am not hurt, but urgently in need of some money to sort m...

Re: Lewisham Planning in la la land?
I have been involved in three planning applications with Lewisham. The first two I was the applicant for significant house extensions. I was dealt with helpfully. The permission was granted in about 3 months (I had heavily consulted the neighbours so there was no objections there). I was highly sati...

Re: insane changes to planning law
it is dangerous to criticise stuff relying only on press releases. But the proposals on a temporary relaxation on the rearward extension of homes is really serious unless we get some protection in law (which would in itself invalidate the whole idea). The people most likely to take advantage are tho...
