An item with that kind of value isn't worth bothering to pay someone for their time in identifying the fault and repairing it. I bought a brand new DAB clock radio for only £20 in a Netto shop about 6 months ago, dozens of stations on it, superb sound quality and with continuous station info display...

Sydenham Hypermarket was 7/eleven, previously Budgens, prev the Co-op and before that it was a garage. It was Budgens after being a 7-11. I remember being in the 7-11 during the early/mid nineties, I also used to use the Safeway store further down, now Somerfield. Since Sainsbury's opened much near...

Thanks for all the Info about Wilkinson's guess I will have to make my mind up whan I see it. It is amazing to see with inflation and declining pound what they still sell in Pound Shops. What do you think you can buy in a Zimbabwe Dollar Shop.?????????? Probably wouldn't even buy a plastic carrier ...

I've not only heard of Wilkinson's, I've made trips down to Sutton specifically to use their store down there for years now. Haven't tried the Penge one yet (officially opens tomorrow I think). I find them quite unique, they offer a vast range of household/electrical/gardening items and some foodstu...

soft water is kinder on your pipes and appliances, you also need less soap when having a shower. But it tastes horrible.... :? Hi Bensonby, that's right it does, but you are not meant to drink it at all, you must always use the mains tap in the kitchen for drinking and water for cooking. Another ti...

Thanks for that very detailed post, bladerunner. The boiler was given a major overhaul with several valves being replaced (it had been leaking a bit of water on occasions). I had already checked the mains valve under the sink and it's fully turned on. The pressure is very variable and is always low ...

I can't say we've had a drop in pressure. What part of Sydenham are you in? Hi Bensonby, Southend Lane/Bell Green area, near the Savacentre (UK's second most struck bridge would be a clue, if anybody knew that fact). It's coincided with a big block of flats being built next to the Gulf garage nearb...

Re: water pressure
Have a look at this thread (country-wide comments). Edit: Just taken that thread down as the essential elements are that there is a statutory requirement to provide a certain flow rate (min bar measurement) and that combi boilers do rely on that. The rest, on re-reading was probably irrelevant real...

Water Pressure
Has anyone else noticed a huge drop in their water pressure over recent months? I reckon, at best, it spurts out of the (mains fed) kitchen tap at a little less than half the rate of knots it used to. But at certain times of the day it drops much further. This creates a situation that my combi boile...

Does anyone know how I go about hacking into Google Earth's website, cut and remove the images they have taken of my property, and paste in something I feel is a little more appropriate? I thought, perhaps, with something from Sundridge Park area of Chislehurst. That would presumably leave a hole wh...

would't it be a sad day if we needed permission to film in public. If something is visible in public then it can, generally speaking, be photographed. I really don't understand all this debate... If you don't want to be seen then cover your house in tarpaulin and wear a burka! Well, I know you said...

It works both ways I suppose. Those second cousins who enclosed their round robin last Christmas, together with their new address as they've just moved to the outskirts of Detroit and described their latest abode as something you imagined could be second only to the White House. Imagine looking them...

Google Earth Vehicle in Sydenham
I've just spotted a black Vauxhall Astra with a huge camera mounted on a pole about 4 feet above the car, heading down Southend Lane into Lower Sydenham. Presumably it's taking 3d images of the area, there has been quite a debate in some national papers about this, because anyone anywhere in the wor...
