I once watched a drug deal going on near the entrance on Mayow road. I saw a Community officer (chatting on her mobile). I told her what I just saw, she said, "I don't know what to tell you. Keep an eye out for them." I mentioned this a that big community meeting when we were broken into g...

I can't understand why, with all the constant problems in Mayow park, why is there no CCTV camera anywhere? There are signs around the Bowling lawn but it doesn’t exist. Surely it can’t be that expensive to throw a few up. The park itself is slowly becoming feral. I use the park upwards of 3 times a...

Speed Camera on Westwood Hill

I was stuck behind someone going 10 miles under the speed limit this evening when to my absolute surprise the Speed Camera on Westwood Hill flashed me. How is that possible?

How do I appeal this ticket when it arrives in a week? It’s my word against a comuter.

I’ve had many problems with Glendale and have witnessed their dreadful work habits for years. I wrote here once before that I was locked in the park on two occasions by the guy who usually locks the park. He’s a very arrogant and aggressive man who is always trying to skive off work early. I’ve had ...

I was coming back from the cinema in Beckenham at that time, pulled into the Thorpes only to find them blocked off by police. Princethorpe and Dukesthorpe were shut off. We waited 5 minutes, decided to park, asked the PC what was going on, and were told they were looking for a stolen car. They said ...

Mayow Park locked at 4pm yesterday!

Yesterday the Glendale guy closed Mayow Park at 4pm. I have had several run-ins with this gentleman after being locked in October – after no warning that he was locking the gates. I have spoken to other people who have had the same thing happen. Occasionally, this guy never even enters the park to t...

push bike found in Mayow park

Hello, I was walking my dogs in the park at 4:30 today when I noticed a red and black bike left on a bin near the tennis courts. By the time I was finished wth my walk the park was empty so I've brought it home. I'm guessing it had been stolen as parts of it had been broken off. It is a very good qu...

This has also happened to an acquaintance in the Thorpes. This time, however, the thieves painstakingly removed a small piece of lead from the stain glass window, pulled a small section of glass out and got to the keys that way. When they tried to get into my letterbox the police told me to bring my...

I agree. It's GRIM. It is a perfect bookend to the equally GRIM 'Desire'. Not so much the actual Desire shop but the 'open now' sign shabbily painted onto the adjoining fence.

advice regarding sash windows

Hello I am looking for some advice regarding sash windows in the conservation area. In wanting to be Green and make my house more fuel efficient, I’ve been looking into bringing in one of these ‘draft busting’ services to fix the windows. Has anyone ever dealt with these companies? The advisor claim...

mulit car theft in the thorpes

Hello, I’m a bit new to this forum. I wanted to post what I have just heard from my neighbours. I live in the Thorpes and last night at about 3 am I heard my letter box being opened. I rushed downstairs to see what it was but saw nothing. Just a couple minutes ago my neighbour told me that another n...
