Lights at Mayow Road

Does anyone know if they are going to attempt to retime the lights on the corner of Mayow and Sydenham Road. The green light from Mayow is 8 seconds. That seems to be morning, noon and night. It seems a bit short and I have noticed in the past few weeks that during heavy traffic times is causing peo...

Re: Street Food evening on Thursday 5 September

I must admit that when I read about the event it I didn't quite understand what exactly it was going to be. Still we went down and it was a great evening out. Thanks for organising! We were amazed to see a nice mix of people. We were really amazed by the amount of 'trendy' twenty-somethings. Its inc...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey

Is it over the top to suggest that we buy or rent a domain? Something like http://www.purelakedidthis.com, create a website with a front page that has all the information including pictures of what state the pub was left in and anything else of relevance to the story and the mess they've left behind...

Re: NABORHOOD CENTRE

I overheard someone saying that this project was estimated at a cost of £15,000 but ended up costing £50,000. Is this true?
If so who paid for it?

'free insulation'

Hello, I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it on any thread. I've had a quite persistent person coming to the door asking 'have you used your free insulation grant yet', or something similar. He's never offered to leave any information but wanted to get into the loft and see if we w...

Re: 3 Cheers for the Coffeeman at Sydenham Station!

I haven't gone for a while. If they are reading this I would offer a tiny bit of feedback. I've only ever had a coffee there from two female attendants. One was from the Philippines and made great coffee. I never see her anymore. The other woman, I'm really sorry to say, usually seriously scalds the...

Re: advert for someone to run the cafe in Mayow Park

Responce from my email regarding the cafe: Dear Sir/Madam Thank you for your recent enquiry, we are currently experiencing technical problems with the building and the works have been delayed. As soon as works are completed I will be inviting expressions of interest, by means of an advertisement in ...

Re: advert for someone to run the cafe in Mayow Park

Coll - your fears are perhaps exaggerated. The opportunity to run the café, with all appropriate details, will in due course be published on Lewisham's web site. I'm not sure I meant to convey 'fear' and I'm not quite certain there's an 'exaggerated' element to my post. If we take a closer look at ...

advert for someone to run the cafe in Mayow Park

I just noticed an advert/blurb in the latest Sydenham Assembly News letter asking for people who may be interested in running the park café when it is ready to open. It says to email martin.hyde@lewisham.gov.uk. I think its really important that the word gets out on this and the correct, qualified p...

Wow. I usually never post here and didn't know this would cause such debate. Now I see admin saying its the most popular thread for a while. Maybe I should post more? Thinking about possible topics  How about the man at Sydenham Station who 'works' by the gates. He's ALWAYS blocking the ...

Re: second pedestrian light by Sydenham station

Wow! lots of debate! My reason for asking was not about the differing opinions of divers and pedestrians or even cyclists. It was simply a question as to why there are now two sets of lights (only one of which is on the plans that are available online) 25 feet from each other and why is it that they...

Re: second pedestrian light by Sydenham station

So, there IS a second set of lights - original topic - and they are not on the original plan and 25 feet from the first set. It just seems to be a bit much, regardless of walking/cycling/driving. Just seems strange to me!

Re: second pedestrian light by Sydenham station

I've had a quick look at the plans. Unless they are an older version and have since been updated, there is no second set of lights listed.
I don't argue that it is safer it simply seems they are awfully close together.

second pedestrian light by Sydenham station

I was going up Sydenham Road this morning when I saw them installing, what looks like, another set of lights for a second pedestrian crossing. This set is only about 5 metres from the new set of lights just next to the DIY shop. Will this not cause a lot more traffic? It seems strange.

Re: The Greyhound

Hello all, apologies if this question has been asked and answered already. I can't seem to find it if it has. What was the outcome of the application to turn the upstairs of the pub into flats? Surely if it were to pass, it would greatly reduce the want for anyone to take it on as a pub- being so li...

Re: Funding for Mayow Park Pavilion refurbishment

Does anyone know who will run the new cafe? Will this be open to anyone to apply to run it? I know of several interested parties whom have expressed interest and whom have a lot of experience in the business. I do hope there is a fair and equal opportunity for all to submit a proposal to run a busin...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

I'm sure this has been asked on various other threads on this forum but is there some standard form and or letter of complaint or objection that we can get our hands on to help us know what to include in our own objection? Would that be helpful to others? If anyone knows of one it would be great if ...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

I also saw the work on the new building. Is it me or does it seem to be lacking actual psychical depth? I can't imagine fitting an entire pub (bar, seating, kitchen and all) in that tiny space. My other half joked it's the depth of two refrigerators back to back.
