I've said before that I would rather the terraces were restored and repaired than anything majorly distracting done to them. I could abide a couple of tennis / badminton courts, as they're flat, as long as they weren't expensive - the park should be for everyone. There's an athletics stadium for run...

I did the same journey Juwlz - I found myself stuck at whitechapel for 15 mins on my way in- I think the Hamersmith and City Line might be worse than our friends at southern for delays and cancellations ! I used to live in East London (for a couple of years), and yes, this line is simply appalling....

They're at the top to the sides of the escalators down to the Jubbly platforms, right by the walls. Not amazingly obvious actually.

I've sent an email to what I think is the correct email address at the Metro.

Will let you know if there is any response.

And yes, there is only a single down escalator, which is a pain at rush hour. I'd just sit further in the middle of the overground train to be first off!

How about a competition for worst pub garden (actively advertised as a beer garden).

Although not a contender, The Gypsy Hill Tavern garden looks like it has been attacked by giant were-squirrels.

Lovely again this morning. Cool, quick, got into work earlier. Still lacking Metro papers at Sydenham station.

And at least if the trains upstream fail like last night, there are now 4 an hour from Crystal Palace instead of two.

The advantages outweigh the minor disadvantages in my opinion. A couple fewer trains in the morning for London Bridge / Northern Line folk - but the trains will be emptier because of people moving to the overground. The morning train was always 22 minutes, usually with an added wait outside London B...

Certainly. As far as I make it, there are now eight Overground services an hour, even late at night, four from Crystal Palace, and four from West Croydon. These are every five minutes, with a missing train every third train. It's 15 minutes from Sydenham to Canada Water (compared to the 20+ minutes ...

I used it to go to work this morning. It was a few minutes late, heh. However the train was quiet, and lovely and cool. Lots of space on the trains, and the lack of carriage ends was nice. The change at Canada Water was the simplest thing ever, compared with the pain at London Bridge (long walk from...

Is there actually a sign on the roads into Sydenham saying "Sydenham" at the moment? I think that would be a great thing to add on the roads from CP, FH and Catford (and maybe Penge). Where are the exact boundaries of Sydenham anyway?

The Albert?

Google Maps says no... so where is it?

I can see the Alfred. And the Royal Albert in CP.

This sounds interesting.

For other readers, there is a (rather Flash encumbered) website: http://www.greenchain.com/

Are there details of the forthcoming northwards extension route? Surely Well Park and Dulwich Woods are on the route?

Yeah, I've seen him somersaulting from the high wall at the junction of Lawrie Park Road and Cobbs Corner.

I think a good start would be sprucing up the terraced gardens in Crystal Palace Park, and restoring them to the original look and feel. Maybe with some sports activities (rounders/softball/baseball pitches, grass tennis courts, etc), or actual gardens on the flat areas. Maybe a scaled down Crystal ...

When you shop or eat out, do you stay local or travel elsewhere? Not Sydenham High Street, but I've only recently moved to the area. Had a pint in the Railway once, but not so enamoured - needs better beer. Still to try the Dolphin and other pubs in the area. Will pick up small items of shopping in...
