Ive been to Beltwood House recently Greg. I got my puppy from there. Its in a state of disrepair and has been neglected for a while. It would have been an impressive residence at one time and has extensive grounds.

Dont live there, but walk my dogs around there regularly and it seems quiet during the day. A good mix of housing with predominantly Victorian terraces. You get easy access to Home Park, not the best Sydenham park in my opinion, and the library.

Which is why I said: I dont think we'll miss them if thats their attitude. Thing is Nork, people come for the reasons you describe and then end up staying here because they like it. When you do the maths, despite the projected 50% increase over the next two years, where are you going to get the same...

Before the current owner bought it it was on the market £450,000. They have done some work on it but I dont like the colour scheme, too contempory. Im sure there would be restrictions on converting it to flats, and rightly so IMO, its a fine example of Lubetkin's work and should preserved as it was ...

Well me in sydenham it certainly looked like drive by, but I've just spoken to someone who was there on Saturday night and this is waht they say happened: An obnoxious drunk was asked leave and refused and was thrown out, not before he had pulled out a knife. Police were called and attended but no a...

The Mayo Road seige was actually a pretty big event for around here Juwlz. A car was stopped on Sydenham Road by the newlands park lights and one of the occupants, who was armed, fled down the road and ran into the hostel next to Smiths showroom. All the roads were closed off and armed police took u...

Ten years in Sydenham and not been a victim of any crime, except car keyed five years ago. Habitually leave car unlocked and back door open when out etc. Seen all sorts of trouble in Sydenham Road over the years (euro 96 Dolphin mini riot was memorable) but apart from the Mayo Road seige a couple of...

I love Broadside too, after encountering it in Southwold three years ago I have been buying it bottled fron Sainsburys. I've only been to the Dolphin once, for a couple of swift bottles of Peroni, three pounds each! Didn't examine the menu as I didn't have my glasses with me but liked the ambience a...

The thing is I dont know if lewisham council are actually going to bother to find out. Flytipping is punishable by a fine of up to £20,000 which would be enough to put a lot small builders out of business and seeing as this one appears to be a serial offender I would hope that would the maximum fine...

Flytipping on Berrymans lane

Yesterday there was another load of rubish deposited at the top of Berrymans Lane, building rubble mainly this time. Yhis has to be the third time in a month that rubish has been tipped there and it obviously a favoured site for someone. Thouroughly fed up with this blight, I examined some of the ru...

Been using Mayo for ten years with my dogs and am prett happy with them really. I do find the main man Tony Rogers somewhat patronsing and tend to prefer to have my dogs treated by Zeta, who is always enthusiastic and makes and effort to bond with my animals.

It was called Tandoori Delight Greg. It started off ok but got pretty poor. Its under new ownership and a couple of young lads appear to be really giving it a go. I had a meal from there the other day after reading this thread and jolly good it was too. I used to like Gurkhas but the last takeway I ...

For a traditional fry up I dont think you can beat the Hill Top for consisntent quality. Propper bubble, good quality bacon and eggs just right. The Kent House Cafe is good too, but is usually full of workmen and can get a bit rowdy. Before it became Finkls, someone opened a cafe who really did not ...

Ive been using Mr Bandlish in Gypsy Hill for ten years. When I first arrived in Sydenham ten years ago had a terrible toothach and he came out at 2 in the morning. Saw him at his surgery the follwing day, a Sunday, and he only charged me the NHS rate. Good dentist and a nice man.

I would reccomend Ted Johnson of Knighton Park Road on 0208 659 5376.
He did my hall and stairs and did a fine job for a reasonable price. He always cleans up after a days work and, importantly, turns up when he says he wil.

I dont hink they are squatters at all, perhaps some of the residents had penchant for smashing the windows.
