Re: Meanwhile in Penge
Thanks - yes, Telegraph rather than Tavern...apols
Defo seems to be under some sort of construction - was in the garden cntr opposite yesterday and it had scaffolding outside. Good news that it is decent - always used to be, although admittedly haven't been there for about ten years

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
The rents point came from a conversation with the greengrocer who mentioned the rent levels and the rates prices.
Re the ownership thing it would be interesting to know who owns the most properties as that might explain the high rents. No accusation of racketeering or anything ; )

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
Sorry, I think my repost, and the very good images provided by Lee, crossed in the ether somewhere so I hadn't seen them. I suppose I am all in favour of maintaining the uniformity of the High St architecturally, so I am probably pretty happy with that in many ways. Part of me wanted to have somethi...

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
Thanks you Tim - the whole thing seems very mysterious indeed. I might ask one of the local agents, or basically Property World who owns it - they are bound to.
The company on the title seems to be based in Fulham. Odd.
Its a huge site - I notice it was bought for £190k - bargain!

Re: Building site on Sydenham High Street
Quite extraordinary that there seems to be nothing going on there. I guess access for heavy vehicles will cause havoc on the high street, but surely something must go on there - too valuable. Otherwise it should become a park or something - but the Tiger's head or whatever, but an admittedly talente...

Building site on Sydenham High Street
Just wondered if anyone knows what is going on behind the hoarding with graffiti on Syd High St? There seems to be a lot of discussion about lack of housing in London and obviously huge house price levels, I just wondered what is going on with that plot and why it seems to have been derelict for so ...

Re: Kitchen extension - any recommendations for builders
I can massively recommend Leo Sherbinsky and his team. They have done a lot of work for us over the years - an entire refurb of both of our houses we have had in Sydenham in Highclere St and Knighton Pk Rd. Leo can be contacted on 07919 532451 - he is tricky to get hold of due to how busy he is - sa...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Thanks biscuitman - I have been a resident of SE26 for about 8 years, and often go onto the forum to have a quick browse over the odd discussion, particular fave topics have been the plethora of chicken shops, lack of trees (improving) and a few others, but nothing has quite annoyed me as much as th...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Is there any reason why Lewisham planners can't just put a gun against Purelake's head: "Unless you sort it out by X date, we will bring [x] prosecution against you for failing to rebuild. We don't give a stuff about the nature of the commercial agreement you come to with the other partiers, o...
