Re: Late Knights..coming soon?
I'm pretty sure it's the previous 'pop-up' shop, just along from The Alfred pub. I stopped to have a nose through the window very early one morning recently, when I was going past on a run and could see through to the rear of the shop. It has a small back window with with bars on it, which you can s...

Re: Late Knights..coming soon?
We live round the corner from the upholsterers and I've recently seen lights on in there in the evening, which I've never seen before but then I saw someone working in there the other night and they looked like they were doing some......upholstery. It looks like an interesting building, bare brickwo...

Re: Late Knights..coming soon?
This is great news! My girlfriend and I have enjoyed the Late Knights beer at 161 Kirkdale bar, but it's been a bit of trek from our place in Lower Sydenham.
Shall watch this thread with great interest!

Re: New Crystal Palace non-news
Well not the biggest surprise to add to the news about Crystal Palace Park, but the website 'Inside Croydon' put up an article linking the proposed Crystal Palace Stadium removal plans to requirements by ZhongRong Group and involvement with one of Sebastian Coe’s companies. City Hall documents confi...

Re: New Crystal Palace non-news
I really don't have a good feeling about the proposed development plans, there's too much being kept under wraps whilst deals are being thrashed out. The organisers of Crystal Palace Parkrun were asking runners to post concerns over the development to the public consultation in the summer, as a prop...

Re: Mayo Road accident this morning
It was due to a nasty smash between a car and a bus near the corner of Mayo Road and the high street. 8 people injured, I saw one lady being given oxygen and a neck brace being fitted onto her, whilst I was heading to the station. They treated her away from the accident in the entrance of the bakery...

Accident on Sydenham High Street
Evening, First I was aware that there was an incident on Sydenham High Street, was when the bus I was on terminated at the stop before the roundabout. Couldn't get down the high street with police tape closing it off, but a group of offices were in the process of arresting one person who was struggl...

I think Purelake are getting a bit uncomfortable, they're taken down their Facebook page after the comments / ratings that went on their site!

Explorer House - Open House Weekend
Quick thanks to volunteers at Explorer House, as part of the Open House Weekend. Was good to hear about the aims of this new development on Sydenham Road and the issues they faced with the build and objections from those who wanted the original buildings retained. The small courtyard area inside the...

Re: Very bad signal in Sydenham?!
O2 does seem to have a black spot in Sydenham. I live on Champion Rd and have a weak and sporadic O2 signal, which can often just drop out completely for a while.
My only solution was using the O2 smart phone app called TU Go, which connects via wifi instead.

Re: Brown and Green (AKA Mayow Park Cafe): Fab!!
Agreed on the good reviews for Brown and Green. Me and my girlfriend enjoyed scrambled egg with chorizo and scrambled egg with feta cheese (a new brunch favourite). Washed down with tea and cappuccino coffees. A great new addition in Sydenham and thankfully a personal bonus of only being 5 mins walk...

Explains a few things. I moved to Champion Road about 7 years ago and I remember first seeing the derelict looking property covered in scaffolding and wondered what was happening with it? Progress seems to have shot forwards in the last 6 months.

Re: Sports Direct is next in line to arrive in Sydenham
Pros and cons really, but for me it's a plus. As a keen runner I can get running shoes, clothing at a cheaper price. Ok, forget good advise on the correct type of shoe for your running form, but hey ho. The retail development has and will continue to be unwelcome by some, be useful and welcomed by o...

Re: Market Research - Cinema
I was in the new B&Q the previous weekend and chatting to one of the staff about the retail park development, whilst sorting some kitchen parts. He mentioned that as far as he was aware, the next stage of the development to be built would include, besides a McDonalds and Nando's, a cinema. Just ...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
I didn't understand the documents online. What are Purelake looking at challenging? I was also really unsure of what the appeal documents indicate? Since the original tiling in the corridor is mentioned, are they now trying to reduce the amount of original features it was stipulated they had to ret...

Re: Skinny cat hanging around.
Very true Mumcah, I ended up on (I suspect) a feeding round for a lovely old cream coloured cat, that use to turn up at my back door on Champion Road. He was very scruffy and thin with an eye problem, then vanished for 2 months to then re-appeare looking very healthy with his eye treated and a spang...

Re: Castle Court, Lower Sydenham - Police on site
Got back home tonight and had a Police appeals flyer through the door, asking if local people heard or saw anything yesterday evening, due to an incident. News Shopper also carried a small article that it was a report of what people believed were shots heard, but nothing so far has been found. http:...

Castle Court, Lower Sydenham - Police on site
Hi all, Any news on what happened yesterday evening at Castle Court, on the corner of Champion Road and Sydenham Road? Went out at 4 pm and came back at 10 pm yesterday, to see police had taped off the whole main block and not a single light was on bar the stairwells. There were two police vans on s...
