Re: Re Masaniello Italian Restaurant
I went there with a friend a few weeks back and the food was really good. Much more authentic dishes than the usual pasta smothered in thick sauce I've had in the past at other Italian places. The specials menu had a nice selection and since I've given up eating meat, was pleased to be able to choos...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound
This is very positive news after all the fears and suspicion about the future of the Greyhound Pub.
G-Man, how about bake an underpants shaped cake and eat it on the grand opening day of the new pub?!

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound
If the Greyhound is pretty much being rebuilt from the ground up, then this does raise a question about what has happened to the bar interior? The more I think about it, Antic don't build the interiors of the pubs, they repair, clean up and stylise existing elements, not worry about fitting in a new...

Re: BT super-fast broadband, Sydenham gets a look in
I thought I'd check up with BT as to the roll out of their new Broadband service. I'm in Champion Road and their site now lists the start date for my tel no for BT Infinity as 30 June 2012, a few months push back from the original end of March launch. Still, they did have that good old marketing ter...

Re: The Greyhound. Does it still exist?
I think it's having to be part re-built due to decayed foundations and rotten roof timbers etc. The developers couldn't just demolish the pub, as the council placed a preservation order on the original building and they would have to prove it was beyond safe repair and I'm sure an eagle eyed member ...

BT super-fast broadband, Sydenham gets a look in
Hi peeps, Been nosing at 'super-fast broadband options', only to discover that the exchange in the Sydenham area hasn't yet been upgraded to this level. After running a search on this site, the topic had pop up a few years back, with BT confirming there would be upgrades between 2008-2012. Just read...

Recommended structural engineer
Hi Peeps, I'm in the process of going through my buildings insurance for some wall cracking issues that have occurred in my ground floor flat. I've been asked to arrange for a structural engineer to do a survey report for the insurers and I've started the process on contact local firms for quotes / ...

Re: Keen running nuts in Sydenham?
How did you get on in the Windsor Half? Got round in 19:57 coming 7th, so not the worst time, but 7 secs off my PB for that course. I'm away this weekend, so can't make the Park Run, but will be at the one the week after, which will be my last one before the Amsterdam Marathon on the 16th, which is ...

Re: Keen running nuts in Sydenham?
Hi Andy, Forgot to check on Saturday, but were you at the Crystal Palace Park Run? It's been nearly 2 months since I was last able to make the Park Run, a shock to the legs and the system was one way of putting it! :D You mentioned forms of day-glo tops, well you weren't running into Forest Hill ton...

Bus fire on Crystal Palace Parade
Hi Peeps, Ok not 100% local, but was heading home tonight and couldn't fail to notice the partially burnt out double decker bus on Crystal Palace Parade. At about 9:15pm, a big tow truck was getting ready to cart the bus off. Anyone know of the details of what happened? The whole back end was comple...

Re: Vodfaone - 'network problem'
I was going to post a message this week to see if anyone was having problems with O2 signals? Not sure if there is any link, but O2 has been rubbish in Lower Sydenham for over two weeks now. My iPhone gets no reception in my flat, then suddenly bursts into life with texts and voicemails, usually an ...

Before I forget (and a bit of a plug), but… HHH_SC_XC_logo.jpg Anyone looking to challenge themselves on a off road race should consider the 3rd, 6 mile Streatham Common XC Race. Saturday 17th September 2011, race starts at 11 am, kids 1 mile race at 10:30 am. Organised by Herne Hill Harriers, the 4...

Re: Keen running nuts in Sydenham?
Andy, if you're at the Crystal Palace Park Run this Saturday, I'll be there. Look for the guy in the orange trainers (still unsure of the colour) and complaining of a slight injury and not being able to train enough for a marathon next month. (Still stupidly doing it though, involves going to Amster...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
I was returning from Tooting Bec Athletics Track to Lower Sydenham yesterday evening, by bus. After 5 minutes I had 'Ghost Town' by The Specials playing in my head, everywhere was deserted. When I changed at Crystal Palace, the place was on lock down, bar the pubs that were busy. (people seemed rela...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
Woken at 5 by shouts, bins behind shops on the corner of highclere and champion rd set alight, fire brigade arrived quickly and put it out. Just heard that the community centre on home park was also set alight, most likely by the same scumbags! [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/...
