Re: Golden Lion pub
Has Enterprise done something to offend you G-Man? I fear you need to get over it. To be honest, no, so I don't really need to get over anything. I'm simply really interested in pubs and beer Sydenham Syd, I'm also interested in a good deal for consumers and people trying to run pubs, something the...

Re: Golden Lion pub
I've seen the five pumps set up. I'm just hoping that they don't end up being Enterprise standard ales and that they go for all SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) beers - this is the list Pubs like the Dolphin and other Enterprise Inns get there guest ales. It would be great to see some local bre...

I think it will be something good. I've heard the developer is very keen to have something that works and fits in with the development, which I think looks great.

Re: Golden Lion pub
Had a peer in last night. It's looking good.
I hope they live up to their Craft Beer promise though. So many pubs say they do Craft Beer and just stick a couple of bottles of Brew Dog in the fridge. Lame.
Definitely 5 cask pumps at the bar though!

They also run several pubs and bars and are expanding quite a lot. They love beer and community. What could be better?

Re: Late Knights..coming soon?
I was chatting to the guy in the London Beer Dispensary on Friday and it's all go as far as he was aware, it's just going to take some time. They don't think they'll be open for a couple of months - this is in reference to the Sydenham bar not the Alex.
Fingers crossed

Re: Golden Lion pub
Not at all Eagle. A lot of the new breweries use keg, key keg is best which allows the beer to ferment naturally too. It's a better way of storage, particularly for highly hopped American style beers that need a bit more fizz, (a mainstream example would be Meantime's London Pale Ale). It keeps the ...

Re: Golden Lion pub
I think we've spoken about this a few times on here Eagle, the ale was badly kept, overly warm. Nor great. Well, that's been the case over the last 3 years or so. I was speaking to someone in the know and they were telling me that they will be really pushing Real Ale. They're going to have a Real Al...

Re: Beer rebellion
I've emailed licensing@lewisham.gov.uk telling them how I think Late Knights and their bars are a well run responsible business. If you have time please do the same.
Cheers and hopefully see you at the bar.

Re: Golden Lion pub
I'm surprised I didn't pipe up at your mention of the Gowlett. It's been one of my favourite pubs for years;. Since just after Johnny took it over actually. I've had many birthday's there over the last 10 years or so including my 40th. I think the Golden Lion is a great community pub and I hope they...

Re: Golden Lion pub
I like the Dolphin too. The garden is fab and the beer is kept well. They just have little choice on beer because they are tied. The talk on the EDF about Cherry Tree isn't that positive either, when I first read your post I thought you were talking about the old cocktail bar Cherry Jam, which was a...

Re: Golden Lion pub
Was going to post something on here myself. If done up the Golden Lion will, I assume still be an enterprise pub, which is the same - in my opinion dreadful - organisation that own the Dolphin. The beer choice will still be limited as they will be tied but hopefully it will give a new offering. But ...

Is this the same people who do the pop up French restaurant that brilliantly only sits 4 covers? (It may be 8, not sure).

Re: Sydenham High St Stabbing
Awful. Perhaps it's related to the stabbing in Lewisham at the weekend. Very sad.
Sydenham dangerous? I guess there may be parts but as it goes it's becoming a lot safer. Many people who have lived here a long time have told me that.

It would be great if the bowls green was used again.
In Peckham Rye park they have the bowls available for people to hire/borrow from the cafe and people can just have a go. They have tables and chairs next to the green, it's proved really successful and is much fun.

161 Kirkdale - Quarterly review - fancy it?
Hello Myself, Mrs G and our friends can't make the excellent quarterly review @ 161 Food and Drink on Wednesday so their are four spaces up for grabs. It's a great night with fantastic food and unusual wines. These don't need to go as a four so if you and a friend or partner just fancy a couple let ...
