Re: 255-269 Sydenham Road to be demolished

I agree, Juliet, I think it is horrible looking. Just because it's old doesn't mean it is aesthetically pleasing. IMHO.
Must have a look at the new plans though.

Re: Boundary Commission constituency revision for Sydenham

Personally, living just over the border near Kent House station, I think I'd prefer to be back in the Beckenham constituency as these proposals suggest. However, these proposals aren't likely to be too relevant as the Lib Dems are vetoing them in retaliation for the Tories not backing Lords reform. ...

I would very much agree with the last endorsement of We Sit Pets - Adam McHardy.
We haven't got a cat any more (he died last year :-( ), but we used Adam every time we went away on holiday and they were really good.

Re: Deal to forward fund £60m Sydenham retail park collapses

I also agree with Lee. We have a couple of Homebases in the area (Penge, Downham) and having a B&Q will save lots of us having to drive over to the Purley Way/A23 so that is a bonus. All these stores have their strengths and weaknesses, so this is good. It also won't take anything away from Syde...

Re: Will you use the new Greyhound Pub?

I might use the Greyhound, if it is good (whatever that means) but it's a bit of a shelpp for me. Currently rather like the Golden Lion, and also the Dolphin, though it is a bit pricey. Lovely vibe though. Golden Lion seems like a very traditional pub, with lots of original fittings, separate Public...

Not sure what you mean by scrolling icons though!

I absolutely agree with you, Lee, this is very sad indeed. The site looks brilliant in your top photo above. What an absolute tragedy this will be.

Re: The Secret History of our Streets

I agree, I thought it was a fascinating programme, this week's is on Camberwell Grove, I wonder if any other local streets will be featured in the future? I loved the way they used Booth's Victorian maps of the area! Seems sad how the community was broken up - I thought the comment by one of the int...

Re: Any advice on damp walls appreciated?

I would endorse marymck's views on condensation and penetrating damp 100%

Often, an extractor fan will deal with condensation.

Penetrating damp is often caused by a leaking gutter or pipe.

Just bring it along to Sydenham library during opening hours and we'll take it there.

Well, Penge East serves Victoria and LOWER Sydenham gets you to Charing Cross. And the latter trains are fast if you get the ones that don't stop past Ladywell.

Re: Sydenham Library - Pass or Fail?

There is only one answer, as I see it - the volunteers manning Sydenham library are clearly doing a great job! There has been years of neglect by Lewisham - just look at the awful state of the building - paid for by Carnegie originally - and Darren T and Nasrin (who runs the library) are urgently pu...
