Re: Sydenham in The Times

Quite like the article calling it Sydenham village. Think it has a nice ring to it and makes u think leafy which sydenham definately is. Unsurprisingly under the downsides the high street & lack of restaurants comes up. Hopefully this will soon change with the Portas pilot ideas happening in the...

Re: SEE3 News: Pop Goes Sydenham!

I also watched the programme. Really interesting, I thought. Also showed what an upward struggle it is to get change & you need buy-in from the shops & community for it to work. Perhaps as residents we need to be more vocal in what we want by speaking to the existing shops/ cafes etc in syde...

Re: On the hoof

The seating area was being used when I went past. I could see me & my husband using it as we get different trains to work but if we are 10/15mins away we'll often wait at the station for eacother & walk home together.I could see either of us grabbing a coffee, paper & a seat while we wer...

On the hoof

Love the rebranding of on the hoof & the little hatch at the station. Brilliant idea to have seats outside the station - a real sun trap this morning when I went past! Great to see a business in Sydenham making a real effort! [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/mobile.png

Re: SEE3 News: Pop Goes Sydenham!

I think location is key to any success and I'm just not sure these the mary portas pilot has got it right. I am speaking as someone who does all my weekly shopping on the high street and try to support the local shops as much as possible but you need a clustering effect. Going from Co-Op to Billings...

Re: SEE3 News: Pop Goes Sydenham!

Bit disappointed on the location of these shops. I was hoping for some sort of clustering effect with 3/4 extra shops opening. Lets hope just in the Jill shop we get something like a cheese shop, wine merchants or something else foodie to compliment the current high street dynamic..

Re: SEE Sydenham Market - Sunday 28 April - 10am to 4pm

I also went to the market & thought it was great. Bought sausages, bread, chutney, samosas & quiches. All lovely! Thought the space worked really well at venner road & also the new stalls looked v good. I think a cheese stall & more breads/ savories would go down well if looking to e...

Re: Sydenham Assembly - 7pm Tuesday 5 March

Hi Lee, I managed to go last night & it was a positive meeting. Personally I was pleased to hear from Chris Best confirming the lewisham bins would be replaced as part of the high street regeneration project. I had read on the forum this was not covered by the funding, however the councillor con...

Re: Sydenham high street: street furniture

Thanks Jonathan for persuing this with the council. I'm saddened to hear its unlikely these will be removed particularly from my memory all the public consultations/ meetings I attended which spanned several years before the redevelopment of the high street it was always said by the council resprese...

Uniplan & home collection

Just been past Uniplan & have to say their new shop front looks great. The first shop to make a positive improvement during the high street redevelopment. Think Uniplan should be commended on this similar to property world agreeing to take their signs down. Also noticed home collection seems to ...

Sydenham high street: street furniture

Looks like the Sydenham high street works are underway which is great news. I was wondering if anyone knew if any of the street furniture was going to be removed? I can see the unsightly telephone boxes with graffiti seem to be staying outside property world/ lloyds. Shame especially as there are mo...

Evening standard: flash cash mob

I read in the evening standard about 'flash cash mobs'. Well think that's what it was called! Whereby groups of say 10 go to a local shop & spend 10 quid each to support the local shop. Each week going to different shops in the area. I try and support the local high street as much as possible fo...
