The Herne Tavern
Just had to write to recommend this place. I saw it here, a while ago, on a thread recommending child friendly pubs, and I kept it in mind. I went today, to have a bit of a Christmas lunch with some friends - seven adults, seven children, two babies. It was brilliant!! Two stops from Sydenham - clos...

Re: Fouling dogs
I seem to have been in the right place at the right time with regards communicating this problem with the council - I had a phone call from Jeffrey Farrell, the Street Environment Inspector from Bromley Council yesterday morning. He wanted to discuss the email I sent with regards the dog poo problem...

Cream of tartare?
I would like to make my own play-doh and believe this is the key ingredient. Today I tried to buy this in the big Sainsburys, the health food shop, and the pharmacy but nobody had it. Any idea where this ingredient can be bought?
Many thanks!

Re: Fouling dogs
I am glad someone has brought this up. I am absolutely livid about the Byne Road problem. One dog-owner bags up the poo and then scatters the bags of poo on the pavement around the tree outside my house - I'd be grateful if he put it in my bin!!l Today my daughter stood right in the middle of a mass...

Re: Where are the best Baby clothes shops in the area
Smash bang wallop on crystal palace triangle has great funky baby gear. The book shop on the same stretch has a nice selection of baby books. Forest hill probably has some nice gift shops but I'm unfamiliar with what's there.

Re: List of drop-in playgroups in the area
I don't suppose anybody knows if the music/dance class still takes place on Thursday mornings at Sydenham Library? I never made it but I heard it was good.
Thanks
Marie

I've also got to start looking into a nursery. How is your research going? I was also planning to get in touch with the one on venner road, I'd be interested in your opinion if you have managed to visit them?

Is this going to continue over the summer holidays? And how much are the sessions?
Thanks!

Playing out!
I've been reading a bit about this recently: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/jun/23/reclaiming-the-streets-for-kids Basically closing off your street for a couple of after-school hours once a month or so in order for children to play out. Sounds like a great idea to me. I'd be up for org...

Re: What's on over summer for toddlers?
I also have a two year old and know that a lot of the playgroups that we attend don't run in school holidays (e.g. Monday mornings at St John's, the Lewisham baby gym etc). So I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread for good alternatives and will post when I hear of anything or find out that any ...

Re: KFC in Savacentre grounds?
Hey Bastard (that's nice, what sort of dog does your friend have?), I wish I could look at our society through rose tinted glasses, no such luck for me as my profession is very much 'on the street', I have to deal with what is really going on in our communities every day. Rod: you are right, I misse...

Re: KFC in Savacentre grounds?
I think it’s important I respond again after my first post which clearly opened a can of worms. I probably should not have become involved when I did – I agree rshdunlop - but I was upset by what I’d read and I am a firm believer that racism that is not challenged is as bad as racism itself. And so,...
