Re: Car in Venner Square
well done for chasing and updating. It is ridiculous. I've had my towed away in Clapham a couple of times literally minutes after parking in the wrong parking zone. Unbelievable they've left this for weeks.

Re: Fly tipping along the high street
Thanks, Biscuitman, for taking the effort to report to fix my street. And you're totally right about people leaving a mattress lying around like that. I feel 'forced' into being a snob about people sometimes. If ever I need cheering up - the Mayow Park cafe does it for me - it's a brilliant place, i...

Re: Golden Lion pub
It's ok. In fact it has the potential to be really nice ... great floorboards and sofas etc. I'd say the problem is the neon purple light shining out .. which gives it a (dare I say it) 'chavvy' feel which suggests the owner doesn't quite 'get' the changing Sydenhdm demographic audience - and that l...

Re: Redevelopment of 278-280 Kirkdale (by railway bridge)
Well said. Yes, It needs to be something special, perhaps a nice deli or a restaurant to compliment the new greyhound bar .. I even think a 'posh' burger place would work - of the GBK or Byron ilk.

Re: Golden Lion pub
Had a quick nosey as I wandered past - looks a hell of a lot better. Nice looking floorboards and a more contemporary feel ... Those 'carpeted juke-box' pubs of yesteryear have probably just their day; but the Railway/Pavillion is still open for people who like their pubs to feel like an episode of ...

Re: Late Knights..coming soon?
I hope it's somewhere along Sydenham High Street - that's where it needs to be. 'Down from the Dolphin' depends on which direction you're facing, presumably. Anyway - they look like a 'cool' brewery ... just what Sydenham needs. It'd be great to lose a betting shop and gain a new bar :) SB ps very i...

What are the opening times?
Is it open on Mondays? Was thinking of popping in tonight.
Anyone know?

Sydenham Looking Good
Thought the high street's been looking good this Christmas. I like the blue bulbs on the street lamps and tree (looks more uniform and less cheap and tack than some high streets) and there was a great atmosphere last saturday with the market and the street food by the christmas trees. Go Sydders!

Good old Gurkhas
Forgot how great the food is there. Took a couple of mates there last week and they're both curry fiends - both extremely impressed with the food there. I've not been there for a while (even though it's my local). But it was a great evening (it followed a few pints in the Dolphin) ... come on Sydneh...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound
Could someone contact the journalists at ITV's London Tonight or BBC's London Inside Out (or whatever it's called). South London high street calling out for its old pub to be returned to the community kind of report?
Just a thought?

Re: On the Hoof Bistro
I think it might need to sort its timings out a bit. It looks great inside and it's encouraging the food is going down well. Perhaps at the weekend it should open later - a nice candle lit bistro meal needs to go on later on a Fri/Sat evening than 9:30pm - I nearly went but was put off by that. I do...

Re: On the Hoof Bistro
Looking forward to sampling their bistro dishes (yes - they're right in keeping the menu short and flexible - I can't stand those menus with suspiciously way too much on offer) but popped in for a morning coffee and the atmosphere is really nice in there. They're obviously, thoughtfully, avoiding st...

Still a brilliant place. Butchers and fishmongers both excellent.
I miss those little recipes you used to do though!
Keep up the great work guys.

It's still incredibly vague (Miss T). I'm still not getting it. Perhaps I'm just being thick.
I think we might need specifics to help us understand.

Re: Who supports Sydenham's Independent traders?
What sort of things do this 'Sydenham Society' do to prevent progress? And why (do you think) are they motivated to do this? I'm not questioning you - just interested. Do you have an example of where they've been frustrating? It'll help us not involved with businesses to understand and, therefore, s...
