Absolutely right - I thought of that after I posted and didn't have time to edit it.

Re: 'Will my son be next'?

Mel - I've read all your posts. With the question of setting up a public fund, you need someone with the relevant experience to be a) on the forum and b) reading the forum regularly enough to see your post. The more specific and technical your post, the less chance you have of getting a response on ...

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?

We use the fish and chip near the Dolphin and it's good - not outstanding, but always acceptable, and the best we've found in the area. The guys who run it are really nice and the place is always spotless.

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?

Finally, our first purchase from Billings - wonderful fishcakes. Plenty of fish, fresh herbs, chillies and a lovely fine and crispy breadcrumb. Delicious. (We also bought some mussels but, and if you are of a sensitive disposition, look away now, Him Indoors forgot to take them out of the plastic ba...

Re: Road *!@!! works!

Temporary lights at Sydenham Library this morning, plus the temporary lights at Kent House Road are still in force. Bedlam.

Re: Sydenham Farmer's Market...??

SG Smith has masses of empty space to the rear of the property. Also good location regarding public transport and free parking ( behind petshop ) But seriously, I couldnt imagine a Van dealership being interested unless it was to their advantage. I agree. They put the vans in the forecourt because ...

Re: Road *!@!! works!

Well, we are now in September and the temporary lights are still up at Kent House Road. With the South Circular closed in Forest Hill I have abandoned all attempts to exit Mayow Road at the Sydenham Road end as the tail backs from the temporary lights are horrendous. I've checked the SGN website - n...

Re: Save Sydenham Library campaign launch today

Thanks for all your efforts to save the library. Both my kids use Sydenham library regularly - we shall miss it when it's gone.

But please, do make sure to hyphenate Co-op, so I stop reading it as 'coop' as in 'chicken coop'. Otherwise we will be leafleting outside the pet shop by mistake.

Re: Which one of you is "darcy" on the east Dulwich forum?

Basically, go over to the EDF, open up your account (if you don't have one, set one up), and biff those Bourgeoisie belligerents into next week! Figuratively speaking, you understand. You have your orders. Now, advance! No point, Wolfie. They are all having their 'staycations' in designer gypsy car...

Re: Which one of you is "darcy" on the east Dulwich forum?

I moved from ED ten years ago, just as the knit-your-own-organic-yoghurt types moved in. Living in ED, the only part of Sydenham I ever saw was the High Street when I was driving through to Beckenham or Bromley. When we wanted a bigger house and garden and started looking in this area, I was gob-sma...

Re: se23.com - an exile from the north speaks out

I hadn't come across the splitting of threads before - I have to say I don't like it much, because it is still editorialising by the moderators, no matter what the intentions. But if it works for other people, that's fine. And thinking about it, it's better than the practice I've seen on another boa...

Re: se23.com - an exile from the north speaks out

Enjoy? Not exactly. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. And can you please stop referring to me as an antipodean lavatory? Put your considerable skills to finding a better term of endearment, or I shall have to come and pull your tail. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/mobile.png

Re: se23.com - an exile from the north speaks out

I do admire SE23's Admin for his ingenuity, though. If a thread starts off on one subject but veers to another, or opens up into a more general discussion, he just chops it up and gives the threads nice, new, 'does what it says on the tin' titles. So, that Religion thread started out as a discussion...

Re: Sydenham article in The Times today

It's actually two roads, Trewsbury Road (at the Sydenham end) up to the junction with Woodbastwick Road, and Cator Road from there to the junction with Lennard Road. Cator Road itself is officially over the border. However, if you live on Cator Road your nearest amenities are in Sydenham Road, which...

Yes, I just spluttered my tea over the paper. Full page article about how Sydenham is primed for a boom. Someone should forward the link to Waitrose.
