Re: Sticky music thread
As Christmas has become increasingly taken over by 'The Man', I'm surprised carols havent been hijacked by the corporates.
That would be an ideal carol to rename 'Away in a Pret a Manger'

Re: Sticky music thread
It is indeed the Genesis Revisited 2 - and you're right, a lot of it sounds like a tribute band - although, ironically, not as good as Musical Box.
Apart from a couple of alright tracks, Genesis were crap after Gabriel left.

Re: Sticky music thread
Got the latest Steve Hackett album over the weekend - a double, on which he has 're-done' his favourite Genesis tracks. Bit of an odd one really - he's re-done the whole of Supper's Ready, and it is nowhere near as good as the original, and the same applies to Fly on a Windshield/Broadway Melody, wh...

Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Apologies for ressurrecting old topics - but has there actually been any sort of update on the Greyhound?
I have not seen a single thing done to it for months, and it seriously looks though someone is waiting for it to fall into such disrepair, that it will need to be pulled down.

Re: Amex: supporting small shops?
Just what I was going to say.
I've had an Amex card for over 20 years, and would thoroughly recommend them - apart from the ocassional marketing call I get in the evening, just as we are putting the kids to bed.

Re: Amex: supporting small shops?
Amex isnt a credit card - its a charge card.
A true American Express card needs to be cleared in full each month.

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
I thought I would bump this again - as they have now started to lay the paving slabs from the top of the roundabout, down the hill. I worked until recently near Elizabeth Street in Victoria, and watched them repave the area (including re-cobbling the road) and was impressed how much work they had pu...

Re: Amex: supporting small shops?
I got the same - I think its a cracking idea - if it works! Amex must be incentivising the smaller shops, by reducing their charges. If they can change people's attitudes to buying smaller items using an Amex, then fair play to them. They still have the best Membership Points system of any I have us...

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
Thanks biscuitman.
Looks like someone had struck a water main today - when I walked past this evening, there was a veritable fountain of water gushing out of the ground, and forming a river outside Payless.
Oddly, no one was trying to fix it.

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
I think they have done a pretty decent job so far, and really cracked on with it. Given the incredible number of vehicles that use the junction, I think they have also dealt with the traffic control pretty well too. I know very little about the usual method of how new kerbsides are created, but does...

If you can have a language school in Brixton, called South Chelsea College, then we can definitely be Dulwich Borders.

Re: Old Floor Zone shop let
I heard they went out of business after doing a big job somewhere in the Kensington/Knightsbridge/Holland Park area. Lots and lots of work, for big money. Unfortunately they were never paid. We got a price from them once, for a reasonable size job on a premises we had on Borough High Street, but the...

Restaurant and bar - I was looking a the place myself, but was ultimately beaten to it.
I think it might be a vegetarian place, which would be different.

Re: Sticky music thread
Some great stuff in this thread, and I love it all, from King Crimson to Jesus and Mary Chain, via Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Glen Campbell and Hendrix. There is a brilliant version of September Song by Ian McCulloch of Echo and The Bunnymen, and Bryan Ferry did a great version too. One of my all time f...

Cobbs Corner Roundabout
Looks like the work is in progress to alter the roundabout at Cobbs. Much marking of the road and pavement has been done, and surveyors there this morning with their equipment. From the markings, it looks like it is going to be remodelled and moved, so it will be interesting to see what we are left ...

I've been trying to figure out why there is a great big picture of Col Saunders in Peak Hill, with his head superimposed on a chicken drumstick.
Sydenham Arts Festival? A reaction to the KFC at Bell Green?
Really like it - it brightens up an otherwise dreary area.
Anyone know?
