Re: Bell Green: Planning Inspectorate Public Enquiry announc
For those following this saga, an application has been posted today to convert the ToysRUs building at Bell Green into an Aldi. What this means for this application I’m not sure. Whilst this looks like a little surprising at first glance, it is in fact a fairly prudent move by Aldi. Probably increa...

Re: Cobbs corner
My brother and his family and fiends visited one uptown last weekend as a treat for my niece's birthday. Went with a measure of scepticism but came out as full converts. Don't recall them mentioning the laser part (or paintball) but they all enjoyed the puzzles, clues and bluffs in the experience. W...

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
Larky and @admin JRW from time to time displays a sense of good judgement on the issues which she supports. However there exists a tendency for that poster to react in an over-sensitised way to any and every criticism made of her posts. And not least when a reaction to any post where she has made a ...

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
.....If homeowners want to form a club where they work to block new homes that's their full entitlement I just get tired of being told that this anti-housing activism is the "voice for Sydenham" when its not I agree entirely. Forming a "club" is one thing. SydSoc is a "cons...

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
Is it really so unreasonable to ask if the community should be consulted/informed? A very creditable piece of work. A significant and informative list. Does the Society for the Nineteenth Century wish to share with us for how many of these projects they expressed support ? Could it be the case that...

I concur.
The main issues around the school are sound. But the School itself and its Governors were and are not party to what the architects and builders have perpetrated here.
A broad brush approach to tarring everyone is mis-placed and put simply - unacceptable.

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
The Society for the 19th Century and their acolytes have no sense of constraint in these matters. It would seem that a long list of bodies, companies, neighbours and not-so-near neighbours is subject to their opprobrium. More recent candidates have been: Sivyers SGN Kier Aldi The Tudor Hall Social C...

Re: St Philip Neri Meeting - Thursday 19 July 7pm
Unconfirmed information: The original contractor may have been taken over by another business. The circumstances are not known. There does not appear to have been any substantive progress on the fixing of the cladding to the front elevation. Has worked stopped on site ? Is this as a result of Lewish...
Re: sticky:Mural?
On a stroll between The Greyhound and Ghurkas last night, spotted what looked like a re-freshed and very large tag on the Property World Gable. Am I wrong about it being fresh or has it been there for some time ? Still hold to the view that this gable is the best suited location for the Sydenham Mur...

Re: Lewisham Council IT system hacked
Stuart I think on balance that you are right to highlight that confusion plays a part here. However with good methodology and and a measure of trust that there was adherence to mandatory control systems, that state of confusion should be at a minimum. And of course it can be additionally difficult f...

Good pick-up Tom Further information here: http://data-advice.lewisham.gov.uk/ The answer to Q4 is evasive and positively specious. Even if the act of illegally accessing the data caused corruption the digital team responsible should and would have a summary of the data if not detailed knowledge of ...

Re: Bell Green: Planning Inspectorate Public Enquiry announc
I am also concerned about the planned demolition works being so close to the Hall, given the way that SGN has neglected the listed structures. Insensitive repairs have been made to them, without requesting authorisation from Historic England. In particular, the repairs to the War Memorial, whose st...

The planning committee refused consent for the scheme for the following reasons: Building on the bowling green would destroy the setting of the Grade 2 listed Livesey Hall & War Memorial; The application, by reason of additional traffic and congestion generated by the retail units, would have a...

Re: Bell Green: Planning Inspectorate Public Enquiry announc
I agree with the comment from Syd Soc that this a prime site for new housing, and getting more houses built in this area would be a good thing. The trend for buildings with supermarkets underneath and houses on top in London is also becoming more popular. Perhaps that could be considered here. This...

Re: Bell Green Gasometers – A Compromise
The gas holders sit in Bellingham Ward. Bellingham Ward boundaries extend to "the other side of the bridge" as you describe it and also embrace the homes to the west of the railway and further more in a peculiar little bulge the boundary crosses onto the west side of Perry Hill at the Hous...

It is for the school team to apply its expertise and manage the school through this problem. They will want to ensure their primary duty of ensuring the safety of pupils is discharged and that their education is not disrupted beyond the absolute minimum. They have been caught in this dilemma with, a...

Re: St Philip Neri Meeting - Thursday 19 July 7pm
I did not make contemporaneous notes and do not want to intrude on Julia's patch. However. There was general agreement that the actual building and the aesthetics did not conform to the approved plans and that Enforcement Notice(s) would be issued by Lewisham once the full scope of the non-confomiti...
