Re: WHAT IF 21: BARAKAH

Good work Lee yet again. You know what could do with a better frontage ... the health food store (even the fact that I can't remember the name of it is good enough reason). It's green. It's got great products in there - a little delicatessen and brilliant bread. But to all intents and purposes it ju...

What a great idea. Sounds really exciting!

Hope Billings show their faces as well - great fishmongers/butchers.

Re: Too many estate agents on Sydenham Road?

Yep, agreed - too many but (like people have said) it indicates an area on the up and they seem to tidy the area up; the latest addition (the yellow and black one) actually looks alright. Unlike a pound store or a random pawnbrokers which have a run-down look about them. The Tescos (love it or hate ...

Sydenham on the up ...

Credit where credit is due it feels that good ol' Sydders is on the up at the moment. The soon to be re-opened Cooperative is looking great (I peered in through the window, sad but true) ... I think it'll look a lot more like the East Dulwich one. And that Tescos is much better than the sort of rand...

Sydenham Impresses North Londoner Shock!

Just had a fab breakfast at Canvas & Cream in F Hill .. my friend (down from North of the river; Archway to be precise) was blown away by the cafe. It was very cool in there. We wandered down to Sydenham past nice bars, little delis and the new swimming pool on the Dartmouth Road and walked thro...

Re: ,street lighting

Horrible. There used to be nice 'orange' lights along Silverdale which I thought was easy on the eye and created a nice atmosphere at night. The new ones look like the lighting you get in shining on a supermarket car park. Aesthetically very unpleasing.

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

let's stay positive. I actually think the flats look alright. A nice bar could really kick-start things. I was in the new 'upcycled' refurbed Post Office Sylvan pub thing in forest hill on Weds and it was packed .. on a Wednesday. In a recession. Plus the food was great. There clearly is a need for ...

Canvas & Cream

Credit where credit is due. Fantastic 'artsy' cafe in Forest HIll. Just had a coffee but was v impressed with atmosphere and 'shabby chic' ambience. Once of the coolest cafes I've been to in a while - especially with the art gallery section at the back. Looks like the breakfast they do there is good...

my broadband is irritatingly slow at the moment - wonder if that's connected. I'm near the Sydenham station area. Annoying.

Love this guys! Perhaps you could incorporate interviews with local 'interesting' people; or have a spot for local musicians or something.

Just thinking aloud.

Or tying heavily. You know what I mean.

Keep up the good work.

Brilliant. Really impressive. Can this forum not go up on there as well so it's all under one roof, so to speak? Also I suggest a better picture of the Dolphin. Also why not send the link to Antic who appear to be about to announce a new pub venture in Sydenham .. could help promote their new projec...

I got this from Antic pubs: No I am afraid we are not quite ready to announce the new Sydenham venue yet, but don't worry, you will have a lovely new pub shortly. I will add you to the mailing list and let you know as soon as I am given the go ahead. OK! right .. this sounds interesting!!! .. great...
