Re: Rubbish along the High Street
Walking up and down our High Street each day there appears to be a genuine need for larger bins to deal with the number of refuse bags left out for collection. The smaller bins simply aren't big enough....Lordship Lane and the main high street in Penge for example don't seem to suffer the same prob...

Re: Building next to new Sainsburys local
Hi Does anybody know what this building will be to the left of the old Greyhound Pub? I was hoping it was also going to be part of the new Sainsbury's Local but it doesn't look like it is. Also does anybody know the latest update on The Greyhound? I think you mean to the right of the Greyhound, but...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
The spare retail unit that was the site office for sainsbury is a hive of activity today. Moving in wood and shelving etc. Not sure if it now site office for greyhound or if someone is moving into the retail space. We have heard a rumour today regarding this unit. Well don't tease! What was the rum...

The only comparison to the USA that has relevance is this one..Eagle wrote:The crims are lucky not in USA as surely one car owner would have used a firearm.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I've just passed again and I think what I can probably see is just the cut-out for the cash machine (on the Sydenham Road frontage, as I said earlier). If that is so, I'm still confused (I'm easily confused) as to why the facia is across the unit, as that implies that a unit in excess of just the A...

Re: Windmill pub, Kirkdale
It's currently on the market. It's not been on the market all that long. You can google it and find the property ad: it's not cheap, around £1.2m I think. There is a much more recent thread somewhere on this forum about the Windmill, containing the link. This one... https://sydenham.org.uk/forum/vi...

Re: Flabbergasted
you can't really blame them for not wanting to turn it off before some sort of confirmation that it was indeed the culprit. But they received exactly that and still refused to turn it off!!! I think that's why the OP titled this thread "flabbergasted" Indeed. Add the fact that my carbon m...

Re: Flabbergasted
Originally they planned to have the power back by Thursday but its all on already, word has reached me that they have somehow hooked into the main line.. I have taken meter readings in case they have done what I hope they have not. If this does prove to be the case ... theft of electricity is not o...

Re: Flabbergasted
One of my neighbours had to pay for someone to come out and declare his gas appliances safe (they cut us all off last night until safety checks were done even though the source was known, its a legal requirement if carbon monoxide is detected). It cost him £60 so he just spoke to the manager in the ...

Hoping that some kind of prosecution follows but in the meantime we should all boycott that shop They perhaps deserve a right-of-reply before any boycotting. Have they subsequently said why they were so adamant they wouldn't switch off the generator, or offered an apology, Parker? *the local boycot...

Re: Flabbergasted
Thankfully carbon monoxide detectors are now legally required in rented accomodation, they were only fitted 4 months ago, had they not been there, I dread to think. 1130pm and my neighbours and children have been allowed back into their flat. Shrek, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo kept the kids entert...

Re: Flabbergasted
Gosh, that's worse than awful, being despicable that a cause was identified yet not addressed immediately. I'm just glad you're all safe, and hopefully warm now too, and presumably the monitors have reset themselves by now, just in case. Warm-ish. The gas people have had to shut off our gas. Becaus...

What an eventful evening thus far. At around 7pm my Carbon Monoxide alarms started going off. Boiler was checked just yesterday but I set about turning it off and the gas, only to hear my neighbours CM alarm was also going off. Turns out that the shop below who have had power problems since saturday...
