Re: BT super-fast broadband, Sydenham gets a look in
More benefit likely to come from the greater upload speeds - especially makes working at home, if you're creating content easier and less stressful. Also helps off-site, 'cloud' type backups, as well as running a web server (private or otherwise) from residential purposes. Easier to support an HD we...

Re: Forest Hill Elisnore Road Incident Meeting
Would anybody who was at the meeting care to write a summary of what happened - what was discussed; general mood etc.
The sort of thing I'd have looked to read in the local newspaper, when they used to exist.
DId many turn up? What were the questions/ Who spoke?

Re: Proposed closure of Sydenham police station
An update on this from a Met press bulletin just forwarded to me. At the moment 'There has been no formal decision made about the building in Dartmouth Road and despite rumours no set date, month or year re closure.' =========================== Sydenham police station "The police estate contain...

Re: Proposed closure of Sydenham police station
Please note that the email address given for Jeremy Burton in the initial post of this thread 'bounces' and I think its missing a 'full stop' between 'met' and 'police'. It should be 'jeremyburton@met.police.uk'.

Re: Proposed closure of Sydenham police station
What's the demand and desire to retain a police 'station' in Sydenham? Is this the opportunity to get a more suitable presence on the High Street for the police - rather than as Stuart mentioned 'being stuck away on an Industrial estate' as they are at the moment? I think there'd be merit in the SNT...

Re: Challenging a parking ticket - advice please
Its a balance. My experience is that challenging tickets works but you have to follow the procedure to the letter and keep it unemotional and factual. often it means going to the final appeals meeting in person. You have to weigh up the time you're spending on this, the possible payment of full fare...

Re: Cyclist mows down Sydenham pedestrian
My experience is of Copenhagen, where cyclists and pedestrians share the pavement in many cases. There is an understanding and expectation that both will be around at the same time on the same piece of earth and people's behaviours adapt accordingly. Maybe because so many pedestrians are also cyclis...

Re: Intergenerational injustice
My view is that having the vote (franchise) should be given to all adults - i.e those who are at an age where it is reasonable expected that they would be mature and sufficiently independent to understand what comes with the vote - responsibility to use it wisely in the context of all around them. I...

If you want to volunteer volunteer. if you don't don't. What's the big deal. I just wish people would leave others alone - if you don't like something that doesn't affect you then don't comment or try and stop it.

Re: Thinking of moving to Halifax Street but worried about c
i would love to know on what basis you are making these claims about the detrimental impact of the new community centre on Wells Park Road and surrounding streets. Crime figures showed that there was an increase in trouble in the immediate periods after the old youth centre closed. Based on this I w...

Re: Cheap and reliable garage for MOT
Agree about Dartmouth Road Motors - we've been using them for many a year for MOT and service etc. Also for bodywork repairs (auto) - which are done by another company behind on Willow Way.
And they all seem to answer to the name of 'Dave'.

Re: Keen cycle nuts in Sydenham ?
I'm not cycling in Sydenham at the moment - but in Tenerife - riding in the morning, followed by doing not very much for the rest of the day. Very enjoyable with all roads being either up or down (the volcano). I have hired a road bike from www.tenerife-training.net which has proved succesful - very...
