The Park Runs are great, I've done a few now in Crystal Palace and you start to get to know a few people who do them regularly.

There's a complete range of running levels there and you soon get a bit competitive chasing the person in front to the finish line.

I'd call the council to find out. There maybe health concerns with a decomposing fox, let alone other animals snacking on it!
