Re: Does Lewisham Council take it constituents support for granted?
I totally agree but i dont thinks its overlooked i think its a deliberate act to use our council tax to smarten up the areas where new voters move into to ensure they keep voting labour. We are the only place with a tube in zone 3 which has not changed for the better this century. Ive been here for ...

Re: Anti mask culture
Well this is worrying considering how few people wear masks in Sydenham People who refuse to follow rules on wearing facemasks are more likely to have malevolent sociopathic traits, a study suggests. Individuals who showed signs of the so-called dark-triad of personality traits — narcissism, Machiav...

Re: Anti mask culture
Thanks for the BMJ table JGD. This will clarify the risk of working in an office for 8 hours a day. Hopefully this is the end of 9-5 and those empty office can be converted into affordable housing.

Re: Anti mask culture
I never thought I’d leave but It’s dangerous here 66% of people who died of covid were disabled. Where'd you hear that? I’m not surprised this isn’t common knowledge, it’s from the ONS and I could find any info on the bbc site. Its a national scandal. Here is the source info from the ONS , see tabl...

Anti mask culture
Hi, I’ve been on lockdown since March as I’m in a high risk category and I had to go out today, it seems like wearing a mask is a controversial act. WTF is happening, have the idiots won?

Re: Masks
Unless you are wearing a special medical grade mask, then masks and face coverings do not offer any significant protection to the wearer. They DO significantly reduce the risk that you transmit the virus to others, and thus help break the chain of infection. Maybe, maybe not. But given that there a...
Re: Masks
Hi all, it’s great to know that people are taking mask wearing seriously as 123 people died in England yesterday. The rest of the uk had no deaths so it’s clear something is seriously wrong here. I am still in lockdown nothing this govt has done has given me confidence to change my behaviour.

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come
I obtained the figures for Lewisham from the BBC web site. You simply enter the name of your borough and the stats come up. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274 I agree that it has been difficult trying to work out the real figures, as you have ONS, NHS and Public Health England providing often c...

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come
The number of new cases reported in the borough of Lewisham for the week of 29 June - July 5 was just 3. It's a similar story in Bromley and Southwark. Of course, the virus is still around, so we all need to maintain social distancing, wash our hands, and wear face coverings on public transport. Bu...

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come
Hey all, well it seems like the 2nd wave will be brutal as nothing has changed since lockdown and masks are not mandatory in public. 148 real people with friends and family died a horrible death yesterday but my neighbours had a massive party. The numbers are going back up but many think it’s over. I
Re: Masks
I foolishly went to collect a parcel on my doorstep without my mask and there were people chitchatting as if there is no pandemic. No mask, no social distancing the lockdown worked so well no believes the risk is real. I hope they’re right and I’m wrong As every scenario in my head says August will ...

Re: Royal Mail to stop Saturday deliveries
It has been announced that Royal Mail are to make 2,000 people redundant. Despite actions earlier this month to dispense with the services of their oft-times absent CEO, the rationalisation plans proceed apace. Regrettably it happens under the cover of the pandemic crisis. Are these redundancies re...

Re: Local public transport and face coverings
I guess that must be it. I wonder why anyone thinks it's over? Wait for the infections to start rising again ... And, two days ago, on a 358, I was the only one out of 7 actually wearing a face covering. I haven't got used to checking for more than simply the number of passengers before I get on a ...

I think this Thursday’s clap may be the last one. I am sure I read it somewhere. We should make it count if it is the last one! https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/22/lets-stop-clapping-for-the-nhs-says-woman-who-started-the-ritual As it’s the last one I shall perhaps bring my wok and ladle :D

Re: Local public transport and face coverings
I got on a 227 bus earlier today: we ended up with perhaps 15 people on the bus, and maybe only 1/5 of those actually wearing face coverings of any sort. To add insult to injury, they weren't optimally spread out, either, which made social distancing of any sort very difficult. Based on my observat...
