Re: Which are the best primary schools in the Sydenham area?

Have a look at Lewisham's website for Admissions Policies for each school in the borough. It will also give you information on number of applications made per school, furthest distance of children from the school, appeals made etc. Get in touch with schools now to find out when their open days are. ...

Re: Nursery recommendations in Sydenham

I can recommend Cuddly Bear Day Care on Panmure Road. Both my kids were well cared for by the fab staff, lots of activities, and they have 'Outstanding'. They are soon expanding into new premises nearby too, so may be taking on extra kids. There should be other threads on this subject if you do a se...

Re: St Bart's Church PreSchool

I can recommend Sydenham Pre-School, based in Shackleton Close, in between Eliot Bank School and Forest Hill Pools. My daughter attended last school year, and the staff are just brilliant, putting the children's care first. They were great in trying to offer flexibility for sessions too, ie we did o...

Re: After school childcare needed

Hi Dan
It might be helpful to put the school name as lots of childminders /after school minders just operate out of one school.
have you tried childcare.co.uk? or the Family Information Service at Lewisham?
Good luck

Re: Antenatal classes

Hi Kirsty and congratulations on your pregnancy! Exciting times lie ahead!! I have 2 girls under the age of 4 and both were born at Lewisham. The eldest was born in the labour ward in 2008, very busy, understaffed, bit stressful. After complaining, I learnt they were trying to improve the service an...

Re: Poll: Advertising in Town Kids

I think this is a good idea. I'm leaning towards the last option, but thinking local kids based events, sessions, activities, NCT sales etc, which I think, is pretty much what is on here now. I want to see local kids' events promoted and shared so that I can choose whether to attend or not, really. ...

Kids activities in the summer hols - info here!!

We have recently discovered the Limelight Centre in Catford/Downham and it's a brilliant centre with loads of different and cheap (usually about £1.50 per child) activities. It suits my toddler and 4 year old and the staff there are engaging and fun. It's run by the Pre-School Learning Alliance and ...

Re: Charity Events for kids at The Grove Centre this weekend

Bring your kids along for a fantastic afternoon of acting, playing and fun at The Grove Centre this afternoon! Theatre Tots are donating their time to run the event for children aged between 3 and 5 years. At 3.30pm for an hour. It's £5 per child, all proceeds are for the children of Syria; http://w...

Re: Contesting a parking ticket - any experience?

Thank you for replying everyone. And thanks Michael - that sign appears to be further up the road opposite St Bart's. I've just taken 2 photos of the old signs by the junction of Kirkdale, which are about 30 metres from where I parked, showing parking is permitted on the kerbs on both sides of the r...

Contesting a parking ticket - any experience?

Does anyone have any experience of contesting parking tickets successfully? I got a parking ticket last week for parking 'one or more wheels on/ over a footpath' - £110 reduced to £55 if paid within 14 days. The Council recently painted parking bay areas on Peak Hill - white broken lines etc, but th...

Interesting...we were told the same this morning at our swimming lesson, but it really does surprise me that there is no reduction in membership etc to paying members, so I'll be stopping my direct debit at the same time. The closure also coincides with FH pools opening...I wonder if members like yo...

Re: Adamsrill - Reception 2012

Hi Just a general answer - you don't need to put children's names down at schools until the academic year before they are due to start; then you enter your choices onto an application form via Lewisham. The deadline this year for schools applications was 15 January for children starting in September...
