Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

<--- What leenewham said about the Vape Shop. However, why criticise a vape shop if it helps people stop tobacco smoking? I didn't criticise it, that was someone else. I only said that planning couldn't do anything about it opening as it wasn't change of use. I've nothing against a vape shop in a h...

All this for Nando's, yet a bloody Vape shop gets approved next to Tesco! And has anyone ever seen a customer in there? I haven't.

Re: Beggars on the high street

Seeing the two women beggars on the street is both upsetting and frustrating. I don't buy the wailing with the hands clasped as not but 30 seconds after walking past them one way, they were smoking and chatting on mobile phones. I saw several people give them money in the space of a few minutes. Whe...

Re: Wells Park practice patients' meeting

I migrated to Wells Park from the Sydenham Practice (because my GP moved there). It is very frustrating trying to get an appointment at WP but I am not convinced it’s different anywhere else in London. Once, after being vetted and rejected as a qualifying case for an imminent appointment (It was su...

Re: Wells Park practice patients' meeting

Thats interesting, I registered with Sydenham surgery, purely out of laziness as it was closer and always seemed empty so i thought i stood a better chance of getting an appointment. had a pretty horrendous time with the nurse during registration so looking to move....

Re: Suggestion - red light cameras

YES! FOR THE LOVE OF MERCY! I am so frustrated with the speeding through the lights and crossings, and the cars parking ON the pavements and blocking the whole road when the busses cant turn out of newlands park. For the first time in years, i completely lost my shiz a few weeks ago when a car illeg...

Re: Best internet provider in sydenham?

My problem with Virgin is very very simple: we completely lose internet access far too often. When we lose access, we lose access for a whole day or whole night. I work from home, so it's unacceptable. I used to quite like the excuse to take my laptop to a cafe or pub with WiFi for a bit, but it no...

Best internet provider in sydenham?

Hi All Any recommendations for the best internet provider in the area? Currently with virgin, but the service craps out on the regular and the traffic is too high on weekend evenings so hardly any signal at all. All advice gratefully received! Need something with some oomph as we are big on streamin...

Re: Sydenham Green Group Practice

feels like every doctors surgery in a city to be honest. once I managed to get an appointment he scheduled all of my follow ups easily so there appointments are *there* but I wonder what draconian process at reception stops them being given out. its unusual to find a doctors now who schedules appoin...

Re: Brothel arrests Sydenham Road

They should legalise it. Make it safer for the women, and stop so much trafficking.

Its always going to happen, may as well make it safe.

Re: Save Beer Rebellion - we need your help!

You will need a PPL licence if you play any kind of recorded music, whether it be cds, having the tv on (regardless of what you watch) radio etc. You should call PRS and see if you need a licence. You have bands play, irrespective of audience, some kind of licence is still required. Penalty for non ...

Re: Budgens

I would def prefer an Aldi or a small asda, if anything to take the strain off Lidl, which is so poorly laid out and always packed, I swear I need a valium just to navigate the busy aisles, let alone deal with the staff hollering and shouting at each other. Side note, why is it that Saturday morning...

Re: Litter in Sydenham

The litter outside the betting shop on the corner of newlands park and the high street is disgusting, they had easily 20 bags of torn apart rubbish strewn across the pavement last week, and the fridge which seemed to live outside has only just gone awol.

Hopefully if the Tesco becomes bigger they will staff it better. I have no idea who manages and recruits there, but they are seriously lacking. They have some terrible staff in there.

I love the Cake Store! Also, great food and coffee at On The Hoof, Saturday morning brunch is my favourite Ice creams and nice cool drinks from Cherry and Ice Great falafel from Selim I think for a high street its remarkable (in a good way) that there are no large chains, no macdonalds, or pizza hut...

Traffic cameras

Can anyone point me in the direction of how you would ask to have cameras put up regarding speeding/running red lights? Daily, I see cars speeding and running the lights at the junction of the high street and Newlands Park. I have almost been clipped several times by cars speeding round the corner a...

Re: Incident in Forest Hill today

A very frightening event that could easily have ended in tragedy. Hopefully very isolated and that it will not unsettle our Muslim community unnecessarily. Our adult mental health services have been overstretched for years and it is hardly likely to get better. The perpetrator doesn't sound like a ...

Re: Mattress Amnesty?

Pretty sure you have to pay for the council to pick up items like that. Also when you ask the council to collect it can take up to two weeks. If you don't have anywhere to store the mattress, I guess people just put it outside. Other option being, people don't want to pay the money and hope if its o...
