Re: New convenience store near Syd Station
Why can't someone open a decent fish & chips place instead of yet another convenience store? Not impressed with the one opposite Forest Hill station.

Re: Vicious Dog Attack Sydenham Road
Theres also prevention is better than cure! The Government can't regulate all risk out of life. You have to balance freedom, safety and cost (both financial and other costs i.e. inconvenience). The main reason people protest against intrusive "nanny state" regulation is that it imp...

Re: Mugging in Panmure Road
I live a few streets down and I often walk home from the station on my own, so I researched this yesterday. It is illegal to carry pepper spray/ mace - but this http://www.c-p-p.co.uk/product/asp/ProdID/2324/af/page.htm is legal. And appears to work in a similar way. And to be honest, the scrotes w...

Re: My take on London's Riots
Really insightful post by Melissa (the inaccuracies about the Duggan shooting notwithstanding). I would add one additional thing to the list of things that people should teach the young people with whom they have contact. And that is that having a flashy car and a big house are simply not healthy li...

Re: BAKERLOO LINE COMING TO LOWER SYDENHAM?
It'll never happen. Not within a generation anyway. When I lived in Camberwell there were frequent flurries of excitement at one plan or another to extend the Bakerloo line. Lots of talk and no trousers. Or, more accurately, no money. With Crossrail and High Speed 2 requiring all spare transport inf...

Re: Great Italian Restaurant
To atone for my suspicion about the OP's post, I tried out Trattoria Rafaelle for the first time tonight with my brother and sister-in law. The food was excellent and reasonably priced and the service impeccable. And they even managed to squeeze us in on a Saturday night with no reservation. Great s...

Re: Great Italian Restaurant
I always, always distrust a first-time poster who sings the praises of a company or restaurant and is just a little bit too effusive.
Are you connected to the owner or manager of the restaurant, by any chance??

Re: kirkdale
I'm moving to a street just off kirkdale soon and I'm really encouraged by the shops in the area - yes, they're a bit tatty and a tad random, but I actually like the fact that there's bizarrely a art deco furniture shop at the end of the road! The boyfriend and I tried out That's Amore last night an...

Re: Vote For Kirkdale Village Logo
I'm in the process of buying in Fransfield Grove, and to be honest I'm a little depressed by all the negativity on here. Yes, the group of shops in the junction between Kirkdale and Dartmouth Road has seen better days, but at least there's a variety of shops, quirky little furniture shops and cafes....
