Re: Catalytic converter thefts
Sorry to hear that.My daughter had her Honda Jazz done in Forest Hill. Ask your repairer to put on welded clamps to make it harder next time. Also park with exhaust side next to the kerb if possible. These guys will always go for the easiest cars. So that's about all you can do. Re replacement, shop...

Re: Business/industrial unit on Newlands Park - what is it?
Lots of Met. police activities at Newlands Park. Some 'secret' others very mundane. Another candidate for large business in the past might be ICL in Kangley Bridge Rd. (Disappeared about 40? years ago. I did some business with Newlands Park but never got past reception ;-) ICL was in Worsley Bridge...

The Friends had another go. It didn't end well. Is this really the end of the road where only the lawyers got rich and the homeless stayed homeless? https://www.localgovernmentlawyer.co.uk/planning/401-planning-news/51644-court-of-appeal-refuses-permission-for-appeal-over-council-approval-of-plan-to...

And TU introduce their new range of kevlar-lined speedos.
Seriously most of the path is covered by cctv. One wonders if the archive goes back to when they were dumped.

So do I. A welcome change from her predecessor. It's a pity nearly all votes go to the party - not the candidate.
The predecessor's predecessor was also a good constuency MP - from the opposite party.

AFAIR a great contributor to the forum was also a kung fu enthusiast. I presume he hosted many of his images on his site which may explain the links. Can you point to a post that isn't displaying what it should?

Smodge - I share your pain. Or rather I DID share your pain. The takeover of the former NatWest Hostel in Lawrie Park Road by Hackney in the 1980s brought with it an unprecedented crime wave as, presumably, they used it to house folks they didn't want in Hackney. We suffered 13 burglaries in 10 year...
Phew!
Downtown Bellingham has just broken the 40C (that's 104 in proper money) barrier. 40.2 according to this site: https://weather.lgfl.org.uk/

Mais House development approved on Sydenham Hill estate
110 new social homes a small dent in the 10,000 long waiting list. But looks to be the end of the road in the Friends of Mais House £60,000 attempts to thwart it.

Re: Southeastern trains to Lewisham, Cannon St ending
My daughter who lives at the end of the line got this reply from her local councillor: Your email was passed to the Principle Transport Manager at the Council who wrote to Network Rail. Network Rail have confirmed that the proposals you mention were scrapped last year when the Southeastern franchise...

Diana Evans / Bell Green
Today BBC Radio 4 Book Club (15:30) featured Diana Evans on her novel "Ordinary People". It was originally named "Bell Green" where it was set. Diana lives in Sydenham. A fact I did not know. So one for my booklist if only for reference to the 176 bus ... Available on the ghastly...

Re: SE23/SE26.life are no more
I'm pleased to see the owner of SE26.life has put an archive of the site online: https://se26.life/archived.html
Archiving SE23.life will be a couple of magnitudes greater task so, I guess, we will have to be a little more patient.

The photos that were posted years ago have all disappeared, which is particularly sad on the Town Museum board. Ahem - the very first post in the Museum is full of images - posted in 2007! https://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1500 Images disappear because the owner has removed them or thei...

Re: Labour landslide
Not just Sydenham & Forest Hill but in most wards the Greens came in second. They were only 100 or so votes short of their first seat. Still way to go but the only party who could possibly hold the Labour whip to account if LibDems & Tories are prepared to vote tactically next time. May be a...
