Re: we was poor, but we was happy
I'm with Rod on the baby boomer aspect. My parents are baby boomers and they made the point recently about how lucky they were in terms of retirement age/pension/house affordability etc., etc. compared to us 'kids'. Back on topic though I think that there are many influences that affect our happines...

Re: green food hygiene stickers
i think it's very poor to put these ratings on the internet (and probably other sources), without a regular update as to what is happening , and why. I completely agree with Billings/amob on this one. Have to agree here - the scheme seems badly managed and unfair on some businesses. I have heard on...

Re: Smartening up high street bid
:-) I'm a big fan of the pythons. In fact I performed that sketch at the top of snowden circa 1987 as part of the first or second comic relief. As a long time lurker it seems that the attitudes that they are lampooning are trotted out ad nauseam in a serious manner.... unless I'm really missing the...
Years ago most people drank....
Most people I know drink (quite a lot!). We must move in different circles... Re pub dogs, I am loving seeing the gorgeous alsation pub pups (Boris and Olive) grow at an alarming rate in the Grape and Grain and the Alma respectiv...

Re: Cycling on Sydenham's pavements
Have to take issue with you there Stuart. While there might not be any pedestrians in shot who is to say they aren't any further up the road. I get really hacked off with people cycling on the pavement. Particularly when I am walking my dogs on Kent House Road or Trewsbury Road where there really i...

Re: SYDENHAM ROAD AND SIGNS
Are you young? A public loo is essential,I have no medical condition, however it is common when you get older you need to pee more,In fact,I wont go to a high street without one,I walk to penge an am grateful by the time I get there that they have loos, albeit smelly ones. Also how about mothers with...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?
Am I the only one who thinks that while the park might be a little tatty around the edges and could do with a few quid spent on it, it isn't the 'rundown' park that all the politicians and grubby property developers tell us? Generally I find the park fairly well maintained, although more decent toi...

Re: Failure of Local Community Police
It's one thing to stand by while a child drowns ... the poor things wouldn't want to get their feet wet after all ... You are referring to the incident in Manchester. That was a grossly misrepresented incident where the officers in question were found to have done nothing wrong. Yes, I read about w...

Are you sure it was a PCSO and not a traffic warden or summat similar? Just a bit surprised if it was a PCSO - unusual behaviour.
