Re: Mary Portas bid for funds
Pretty pointless really, the only way that the hideousity that is Croydon town centre could be improved is to pull the whole damn lot down and to start again from scratch. A shame that the input couldn't have gone to one of the smaller, shabbier high streets in the borough where a significant differ...

Yes I did mean EDF.
I definitely lean to the right, but my partner's parents are firmly left. We are still able to read the DM on occasion and not spontaneously combust or develop unseemly fundamentalist views. Funny that.

Re: KFC in Savacentre grounds?
See what the daily fail does to people and that is very assumptive steroptyping isnt it ? To judge a person by the paper they may read and DICTATE that by defination it defines them is on a par to making assumptions on KFC frequenters and RnB followers, surely ? I have a few (good) friends of the l...

Re: Breakfast/brunch recommendations
Maybe a little out of your way but I can't recommend highly enough the fabulous breakfasts at the Bluebell cafe in Maple Rd in Penge. If you like things a little spicy, Latino (Westow St, Crystal Palace) does a very good venezualan take on breakfast - shredded spicy beef, scrambled eggs, black beans...

Quite like a meandering topic - but then again my undercrackers drawers aren't in perfect order and I have little flocks of dust-bunnies building up here and there in my abode.

Re: Religious Rappers on the High Street
I'll have to be careful or I'll be up all night ranting. My wife, sons and I headed up to the top of CPP in hopes of some good kite flying and we had some soaring time but it was ruined by extremely load, obnoxious Jesus freakeriness in the form of some sort of concert within the park itself. It wa...

Hi there,
Sorry about the lack of Polish but you might want to pop into the Polish Shop in Crystal Palace (Westow Street)? There are a couple of young Polish women that work there who might be able to help.

Re: KFC in Savacentre grounds?
A very interesting post. I've just emailed you. I agree with a lot of what you say but you are way, way too simplistic. You can't respond on a forum which, by its definition, is JUST words and criticize it for being junk. That does a disservice to everyone who contributes to a debate. You have no i...

Re: New shop at Cobbs Corner
..but there is a Boots (albeit a tiny one) and a big Superdrug. Of course what we do need is some more pound shops, some of those ethnic stores with bowls of manky fruit outside and maybe another pawnbrokers. No wonder I never shop in Sydenham.... Those bowls are often worth a second look. The ones...

Re: Street Drinker Violence
Thing is..... no matter what educational and supportive backgrounds people have, some will develop anti-social tendencies. My view is that we can't change the world so that everyone displays common decency and model behaviour. I believe in good education, and a good level of family support is always...

Re: Child friendly pub?
I would imagine that the Dolphin brought in the laminated requests re behaviour following complaints from other punters. Now that more and more parents bring their kids into pubs I don't think that a polite reminder re acceptable behaviour is such a bad thing, especially as running around unsupervis...

Re: Child friendly pub?
God almighty - if the pubs in Sydenham are to become more and more child focused so that kids playing with rocks on the floor and throwing balls around is considered absolutely acceptable then I am far less likely to go into them. Roll on creche city - fill yer boots!

Re: Child friendly pub?
Hmmm... pubs aren't play areas and there may be glass etc. on the floor. I am not averse to kids being in pubs before 6pm as long as they behave well and aren't noisy, it does put me off a pub if it is full of bugaboos and noisy tots. Maybe try a harvester pub, they seem geared for kids - and those ...

Re: Closure of London Bridge (upper station) in 2015
I've not done a huge amount of research on the London Bridge changes but every little snippet I hear does sound like they are buggering the place up. But may I point out, for the sake of completeness, that a perfectly acceptable and easy way to get from Sydenham to Charing Cross is to go from Lower...

Of course you can. A high street needs a good mix of shops/services - not just an abundance of one.rspca wrote:There are never enough charity shops.
