Maybe ring the surgery for advice - if they feel you should be seen they can book you in.

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

There is a thread like this on Virtual Norwood which is interesting which is pinned (hint hint admin). Any shop opening or closing is posted in there. It's an interesting record and notice board for what's happening in the high street. It also records what's going on with signage etc. Thanks for th...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

Two old style pubs (Hollybush and Alma) closed over the last year or so up the hill in Crystal Palace but have re-opened as the Sparrowhawk and ..... wait for it..... The Alma. Both are significantly different in decor and ambience The new Alma is exactly the same as the old Alma! But with four rea...

Re: Forest Hill Elisnore Road Incident Meeting

Excellent post The Clown, fully agree with your sentiments. I am sick to death of police bashing in this country. And sick to death of the way that the police have been forced to become toothless, serial apologists by the PC brigade. Police firearms officers have a thankless task and are immediately...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

Perhaps they have chickened out, seeing that pubs are closing everywhere. You would have to be very brave indeed to even consider it. Could you rely on the local community to put enough cash over the bar,to make it a viable business????????? Depends how much the locals want the pub, plus who they are...

Re: anything near Westwood Hill?

There may be a little 'corner shop' close to you - maybe someone else can help with that. Other than that, CP has a couple of small supermarkets and a larger Sainsburys. Penge has a great place called the Penge Food Centre which is great value and full of exotic stuff. CP has a fair amount of cafes ...

Re: anything near Westwood Hill?

Hi there topnotch, Welcome to the area :) Not sure about Sydenham as I haven't lived there for years (I am sure someone from this site can help), but Crystal Palace has some great independant shops/restaurants/pubs/bars. Try checking out Virtual Norwood http://www.virtualnorwood.com/forum/index.php ...

Re: What is the best Indian restaurant around Sydenham?

Neo India in Crystal Palace is very good if you like to break away from threw identikit high street indian that many lagered up individuals demand - they specialise in Mauritian fish dishes and meals are made to order, as spicy (or not) as you like. They also avoid cooking with ghee do you don't com...

Re: oppressed minorities, I don't think

My spelling only really became relatively good (by no means excellent) as a result of voracious reading in my youth (and later years). I hated coming across a word I didn't know so had a well thumbed dictionary beside my bed. If I hadn't read so many books my vocabulary/grammar would be a bit stunte...

Re: FREE METAL FOR ALL

Well, I like the witty take from Virtual Norwood, but I'm not reconciled to the original ... call me old fashioned, but I just don't like that sort of brutalism. But I know others have other views ... It is indeed ugly! (but I have grown fond of it over the years, and the roof is a lovely colour so...

Re: FREE METAL FOR ALL

I remember thinking that the National Sports Centre in CP Park was ugly when I first clocked it, but over the last 25 years I have grown to love it. I also thought the stage at the CP Park bowl was ugly when I first saw it, but I have now grown rather fond of the 'rusty lap top'. Here is a bit of f...
