Dolphin.

Post by Eagle »

Visited the Dolphin yesterday and was very impressed to see signs saying any children must be under strict parental guidance and should not leave the table.

I wish more establishments would follow their good works.

Those signs have been there for at least the last 18 months. I actually think they are a bit odd: it makes it seen very unfriendly to children yet the pub often has children in it and the removal of families might actually break their business

Robbie
I appreciate they have been there for a while , but especially caught my eye yesterday.

I have no problem of children in a pub , at an appropriate hour. My objection is when they are allowed to charge round the establishment.

There was indeed at 1pm ish a very young baby , who was very quiet.

Let's hope they don't need the toilet then, if they can't leave the table.

Ye gods. Perhaps someone with more patience than me can dig up the gazillions of posts already made on this topic in the past (and specifically about The Dolphin - I'm almost positive Eagle already knew about these signs and commented about them on this very forum before).

Let's not do this again, hmm?

Why are Eagles comments trolling?? They seem to be a perfectly legitimate comment whether one agrees or not?

Oh I hadn't seen previous posts....I might actually try and find them ...if only because the issue of children/behaviour/pubs/cafes happens to be something I have been discussing recently

Yes I know. A bit boring! I would like to know what makes a post a troll post though - what are the "troll" criteria I wonder!!

Pally, I don't see the problem in bringing up the subject again, we have new readers all the time, you being one of them,we shouldn't expect the newbies to have to go through all the subject/ posts,

Ps I don't like disruptive children in a pub where I am eating/drinking either, to indicate this is a crime - tough, get real some want a quiet chill session.

This is not aimed at all those model mums and dads out there of course! :D

Regarding The Dolphin more generally , I found myself having to socialise recently , twice in fact in a month- quite the hedonist . On both occasions I went to the Dolphin and both times the food was really good as was wine , coffee and beer. Price was pretty good too .
On the subject of children , very much a neutral , despise those parents typified by child on scooter , dad in 3/4 length pantaloons and mum twittering into her mobile about her holiday in Tuscany - usually found in the White Stuff in Dulwich .
On the other hand it's nice to see well behaved children interacting with adults and being cute .

HB has his own definition of "Troll" - basically anyone that says anything more than once that he disagrees with.
He is true advocate of free speech in the best liberal tradition ie his own freedom of speech to snigger at others .

Off to enjoy roasted vegetables , with harrissa, couscous and a bottle of Malbec in my favourite eatery , Chez Mrs Nigel .
A very bon soir

There is no point in getting involved in this again, it's been done toomany times, and simply alerts newcomers to the forum to the fact that Sydenham has some strange people lliving here (unless the newcomers are sprightly octarians)

Mr Fishcox.

Appreciate your comments although not sure what you mean by your reference to sprightly octarians !!!

This subject possible has been aired before , but so have many other subjects.

Un supervised children in Pubs , Coffee shops are an annoyance to others

The Pub is certainly a gem in Sydenham

I find unsupervised adults on forums, much more of a worry.

.....along with people who dont like children, as I find they are usually hiding something.
