Pub developers seem to be so unlucky when it comes to fires.

I've heard on the rumour mill that the fire brigade's initial belief is that it was caused by a lightening strike. I have no idea if that will bear out to be correct...

There was a short lightning storm at about 5:30pm yesterday. What time did the fire start?

Round about then....

The news shopper is saying it is thought to be "non suspicious". Looks like it might have been lightening after all...

Presumably based on the London Fire Brigade statement.

MARCH 2ND 2015. UPDATE
Last night, the fire brigade attended a fire at The Catford Bridge Tavern. The fire was extinguished and no-one was hurt. The LFB web site notes that they weren't treating the incident as suspicious.

Everyone working on restoring the pub is pleased that no-one was injured in this unfortunate incident. Michael Nicholas from Solitaire Restaurants, owner of The Catford Bridge Tavern, notes: 'We’re not in a position to comment on the fire, but we are working to ensure that the site is safe and secure. Our intention has always been to reopen the pub and nothing has changed in that regard.'

Caused either by lightening or builders working on the premises.

When this was an Antic Pub it was really great. A great shame they could not carry on.

Re cause guess we better leave to the experts.

The timing of the lightening storm shortly after 17:30 and the call to the fire Brigade 17.54 do coincide. I guess we will have the pin the blame on the God guy. Pity he doesn't pay out.

From the reports it looks like a serious rebuild job or the loss of the entire structure.

Developers Lightning.
Often occurs in areas that see sharp increases in land values.
it's a strange phenomenon that scientists still don't fully understand.
