We are there every so often. How very sad. It's always seemed reasonably busy

It's being sold as a profitable going concern so maybe it's being sold for personal rather than business reasons and will continue as a cafe / bistro.

A bistro with a net profit of c£50,000 being sold as a going concern is surely not evidence of reverse gentrification.

If it was a chicken shop, nail bar or cover up drug den like most of the rest of the high street it probably wouldn't be closing down.

It's not closing down. They are looking for someone to buy the business to run as a going concern.

There could be any number of reasons. Many of them not related to the viability of the business. I know that the bistro was a dream of the owners realised after a long time. Perhaps the reality of running a bistro open for 3 meals 7 days a week did not match the dream?

Or they are bored?
Or they want to move?
Any number of reasons

Testing the water would be my bet to see if anyone's interested at the asking price.

Interesting point Mosy - They could flip this little joint and move in to The Greyhound!

When asked a few days ago the staff did not think they were closing. It looked as if it was being offered as a going concern.
