Radio Sydenham

Just noticed this: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/radio-sydenham-fundraiser

Seems to be a very modest amount but zero info on who they are. The original Radio Sydenham or a new group?

Hi

Just to let you know the background. Radio Sydenham is a new group. I was asked to get involved with the "old" Sydenham Community Radio about four years ago but nothing much happened so much so that the volunteers all moved on and SCR directors resigned. In that time scale such things as the domain name for the website and streaming services expired. On top of that the SCR website has been cybersquatted by someone in the USA who has copied the design and content of the website for their own purposes. I've let Darren know who is the last director for SCR as they are using his company identity so they're in breaking laws. I've given him the details for the relevant organisation that resolves these things.

Back to what's happening! I took the bull by the horns as there were meetings about meetings about meetings about the station and have set up a new non for profit company "Radio Sydenham Ltd" to give it some continuity. The station is based in Sydenham Community Library and is looking to go "live" sometime in July. We currently have a group of volunteers who, with the help of some folks from the BBC, are being trained in radio production etc. We're in the process of applying for funding as well as crowdfunding. We need around £500 for licensing purposes (Performing Rights Society and Public Perfomance License).

We have a fledgling website at http://www.radiosydenham.co.uk and we're also producing a number of podcasts to put us "in the shop window."
The link to the podcasts is at https://www.mixcloud.com/RadioSydenham/

Hope that helps! Of course feel free to contact me, either via this forum or you can email me at radiosydenham (at) gmail.com or you're more than welcome to visit us during library opening hours. If anyone would like to get involved, again, you are most welcome.
