There was an acid attack in Penge Lane yesterday, the victim was a 17 year old.

I thought the statistics on the BBC London news recently were interesting.
They reported 400 acid attacks were reported in London in the last 12 months, 90% of which were in Newham.
The victim here is just a child at 17. My first thought is to question whether this is an emotionally driven crime, and therefore somewhat of an exceptional event.
Shocking that anyone would resort to such a hideous crime.
My thoughts are with that child, and Indeed, their mother.

I also wondered the motive for the attack. A 17 yr old is hardly likely to be carrying much of value, unless he had a nice expensive phone in his hand. So sad that such things are happening.
