New homogeneous shop fronts in Thornton Heath!

Post by poppy »

Anyone seen them? Or know who is behind them. This is an area that I've always hated driving through because it looked so messy and represented typical decline of high streets.
These along with the colour work added to some of the buildings make it look so much better already.
A shop front/signage scheme like this could really smarten up the shops which have ugly shop fronts at the moment...

I was invited to pitch for this but declined it. It's being done by You&me architecture. It's one of the many high street regeneration schemes. They are difficult to do, extremely time consuming and often expensive.

They can make a difference, but the big question is: Why do areas become like this in the first place? No-one has solved this problem.
