Just about to throw away a load of packaging for Tuesday's bin collection. The cardboard bit is easy - but I have plastic labelled LDPE4 & PW-LD04. The Lewisham website appears silent on these codes.
Anyone?

Can you recycle ... ???
Re: Can you recycle ... ???
As far as I know, the "4" is the PET number (LDPE =low density polyethylene), which in theory is a recyclable plastic, provided not contaminated by ink or labels, so only if pure.
So, whether it actually is recycled or not is apparently dubious as too much fuss to sort out the pure from the not pure, therefore it all probably ends up being treated as landfill is by whatever method.
There is a decidedly unofficial train of thought which says that we should all attempt to put any sort of plastic in recycling so that either they'll figure out a way of recycling all plastics or they (government) will put pressure on suppliers to use biodegradable sustainable-source packaging instead.

Interesting that cardboard can't be recycled. Maybe that explains why a load has been dumped in Kent House Rd this week!

It says cardboard can be recycled. It only says not to put wet cardboard in the recycling.syd-gal wrote:Interesting that cardboard can't be recycled. Maybe that explains why a load has been dumped in Kent House Rd this week!

Really? And Bromley are still insisting that it's not necessary any more to give us lids for our paper recycling boxes?
Re: Can you recycle ... ???
Ah, I didn't notice the bit about 'wet' cardboard.
Then how do we keep the cardboard dry after 2 days of rain on Sat and Sun,and no lid on the large communal bin?
