Lewisham wins £37.7m from Sadiq Khan for new homes

Post by JGD »

Is this new news ?

https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/1700 ... new-homes/
The new homes will form part of the council’s commitment to build 1000 new social homes by 2022.

This is on top of the 500 new council homes Lewisham Council promised by 2018 – with 500 homes either complete, in the planning process or being built.
In any event it is to be welcomed if it proves to be sufficient.

Hmmmm... so will this replace the social housing that was ethnically cleansed in Pepys? or will they simply build houses with subsidies and then let them to wealthy city tenants?

Comparing what did, or did not happen in the Pepys Estate to ethnic cleansing is not helpful here or to the those that are being killed or forcibly imprisoned because of their ethnicity.

If you would kindly reconsider and edit that phrase out I will remove this objection.

Meanwhile to those perplexed by the accusation - this appears to be a reasonably balanced account: https://municipaldreams.wordpress.com/2 ... wo_cities/

I am pretty sure you are not asking those questions directly of me.

I sense they are more of an observational comment or rhetorical question even.

What I would want for these monies is that they provide socially affordable housing for this who need them. And there seems to be agreement that providing 1000 homes for people in Lewisham who do need them is an excellent objective.

I am returning to review the Pepys Estate issues.

I'm afraid you won't be getting a reply from him, he was lured by admin to a meeting at the Sydenham Town Consulate and hasn't been seen or heard of since.

There's a mention of this in the Asylum, but no reasons given as yet.

A police search team have discovered a body buried in Dacres Wood, but believe it has been there for some time. Could it be Eagle?
