Seems like another over-reaction to the presence of redundant gas-holders.
Not to worry - no-one has been hurt and it's Bromley's Homesdale Road gasworks site that has gone up.
Police are treating it as suspicious.

BROMLEY update: Fire possibly broke out at the old gas works, between Homesdale Road and Liddon Road, during demolition work in which oxyacetylene cutting equipment was being used. Some nearby homes are believed to have been evacuated.

So, it got dangerous dismantling it. Good luck to the listed Livesey Hall, right next to the gasholders......

A fairly defintive conclusion from LFB.A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “The cause of the fire is accidental and believed to be due to hot gas works being carried out.”
Re: Fire at Gas-holder Site
Yup. Cutting equipment taking down the gasholders, used in an unsafe manner. By SGN. Sigh.
