Stolen heritage items from Crystal Place Park

Post by LPC » 1 Nov 2018 21:18

A number of heavy decorative metal castings, which were recently removed from Crystal Palace Park, may have been dumped locally. The panels are rectangular, approximately 5 foot by 1 foot and have a design of joined circles which run the length of the panels. If anyone has stumbled across these in the last few days then please assist so they can be returned. Alternatively the police at Maple Rd in Penge, or the park officers can be contacted. Many thanks.

After watching 24 hours in police custody last night about the doctor and the fraudulent insurance claim I was reminded to update this thread.

In summary, witnesses alerted CCP managers (ID verde) that local resident Dr Conal Austin and a family member were seen loading a vehicle with numerous large metal items taken from the upper ruins in Crystal Palace Park. The vehicle registration was taken and passed on to the Police by the park managers who reported the theft. The Police visited Dr Conal Austins property in Lawrie Park Crescent where a number of large ornate cast metal ironworks were discovered which were identified as those taken from the park. The Guys and St Thomas's consultant had been removing items from the park in order to embellish his various building project and enhance his classic car collection with CCP property. Quite astonishing that a consultant doctor should be involved in this. The park managers and the Police take these thefts seriously so please repo
rt this type of activity.

That's appalling and surprising. Do you have a link to the court case?
