Sydenham Post Office to close for refurbishment

Post by KEVD »

Evening

The Post office is to close for a month for refurbishment. The last day of business will be Tuesday 19th of February and will reopen on Monday the 18th of March. Not sure what the refurbishment will consist of. It's a big place so plenty of things could happen.

Regards

Kevd

Nearest Post Offices to Sydenham are Forest Hill, Crystal Palace or Penge I believe.

Post Office now back open. Now have three counters and two self service machines. New stationary shop has been added also. Hope they keep the self service machines working otherwise it could get busy.

Thanks KEVD. Good news and thankfully it's still there.

FWIW I don't recall many times in the past when more than three counters were manned. I suppose the question now is how many of the new three counters will be manned at busy times. I'd agree that it'd be nice if the self service machines weren't out of order quite so frequently...

I sampled the modified Post Office. What a joke! Shabby and down at heel. They have just stripped out the fixtures and installed a little booth... The same limited range of stationery as before...

If WHSmith didn’t have such a dowdy approach to retail they might have been a company with the foresight and ability to make a profit in that space.

Downham, Bromley Rd Post Office has a Subway sandwich shop and an off licence!

It is not operated by WH Smith.

I know, that’s my point. They were supposed to be in the Sydenham one, but didn’t pan out.

It seems to be run by a couple... No indication of anything other than the Post Office symbols... so presumably still Post Office Counters (or a breach of the Companies Act)

I personally think they have done a quite good job. A good sign outside, painted, a decent amount of stationary and a friendly service.
